misdee · 22/02/2004 21:21

watching what?

coppertop · 22/02/2004 21:59

Anyone else have a good laugh at the husband surrounded by mess?

Slinky · 22/02/2004 22:01

LOL! Yes, also laughed when he resorted to pizza/chips after spouting off about the crap food his wife gave them!

At least he realised what b**dy hard work it is!!

OP posts:
Debbiethemum · 22/02/2004 22:05

I was in tears when that b***d first took over, yelling at those gorgeous children who were all trying so hard to help. OK I am v emotional this weekend but he was being so horrible.

At least he admitted by the end what hard work it is, it would be interesting to see them again in a month or two to see what's happened long term

coppertop · 22/02/2004 22:05

Yep, that whole "My body is my temple" cr@p soon went out of the window didn't it. I couldn't understand how he resented that gorgeous little girl.

Posey · 22/02/2004 22:05

Great!
All husbands/partners to be should be made to watch it at antenatal classes.
Even though my dh is pretty good, he has NO idea what I do all day. If he looks after the kids for the day, that is all he does, not the cooking, cleaning, washing... No wonder the kids think he's fab.

charliecat · 22/02/2004 22:06

Oh yes been watching, i so could not live with that bloke. I hope he helps his wife after the cameras go away, i doubt it though.
Didnt she look 25 years younger after not working and getting away from the stress for a while?

Posey · 22/02/2004 22:06

Did he say why he resented his gorgeous daughter?

charliecat · 22/02/2004 22:10

I didnt think he had said, no.

lydialemon · 22/02/2004 22:14

I assumed Caris (sp?) was an accident. I too spent the whole first half swearing at him, and couldn't wait to see the big come down in his two weeks. Me and DH were ROFL

He seemed a lot nicer by the time the kids had worn him down a bit ( at least, I stopped shouting 'divorce the lazy sod' at the screen!)

It would be interesting to know how things are now.

Best bit - little sweetie rubbing yogurt in her hair at the table, and Dad not noticing until other kid pointed it out, how could the camera crew have kept a straight face?!

coppertop · 22/02/2004 22:18

I bet the wife has kept a tape of the programme, ready to play back to him next time he whinges about how children's things should be kept out of the "adult spaces".

charliecat · 22/02/2004 22:20

Poor woman could be a mumsnetter?!

nutcracker · 22/02/2004 22:59

Ooooh, i want bbc3

Paula71 · 22/02/2004 23:21

Posey, that sounds like my DH too! He says he knows I do a lot but I am sure he thinks magic pixies do all the cleaning, laundry, cooking etc! It is all he can cope with to keep up with ds twin toddlers and keep sane!!

Bl**dy forgot this was on, hope they repeat it like they did with Little Angels!! Must put reminders on for the series!

GenT · 23/02/2004 06:27

what time is this programme usually on, would like to bookmark it on Sky?

charliecat · 23/02/2004 08:06

Last night it was on at 9.So sunday at 9

sandyballs · 23/02/2004 10:07

He was so scary - really mad eyes. I reckon he was on steroids - they can make you angry and weird!

That little girl was so so gorgeous! I read in the paper that he resented her because she wasn't planned - apparently she was a twin and her sister died. You'd think that would make him cherish her, not reject her.

alibubbles · 23/02/2004 10:30

I think he was really scarey too. He is a really selfish, arrogant, self centered . I hated the way he shouted all time and his use of language to such young children. Doesn't he realise that it tkaes two to make children and it is his responsibility too, to care for them and love them unconditionally.

I agree with Charliecat, the mum looked so much better after a week or so of not working, far more relaxed, her faced showed it all.The littel girl was adorable.

At least he had a bit of humility at the end and acknowledged just how much she does.

I thought it was interesting how she had sorted the sleep problems after a week, but those children should not have been eating so late, or offered food because they couldn't sleep.

My God, what a tip of a house!! They didn't seem to be short of money, why don't they get someone to help and it would make things easier for all of them, just a few hours a week would have sorted them out!

stace · 23/02/2004 14:19

Just caught this thread nice to know that i was not the only hormonally imbalanced woman sitting in my living room screaming 'Chuck out the ***' i was so rude i wont even give you clues of any letters. He was just so self obsessed and i agree steriods may of had something to do with it. He definetly would have been better suited as an army major than a dad. Yeah he did mellow in the end but i for one bet it doesnt last, no one can be that blind, self indulgent, self obsessed and lazy for so long and then change!!!! Anyone who saw and likeness in their partners i beg you get rid of them NOW!!!

Clayhead · 24/02/2004 09:16

I have this programme on video if anyone wants it.

kiwisbird · 24/02/2004 09:22

he got his beans
why did she marry him one wonders, whatever physical delights he may offer, could not even go 1% of the way to overriding his awful pedantic, critical personality...
Where is the love???

Paula71 · 24/02/2004 22:34

Was about to ask for that Clayhead but it is repeated on Saturday at 8.30pm!

charliecat · 24/02/2004 22:55

I would love to know how they got together and how after having one kid and his atitude being like that they ever went on to have anymore. And such a seemingly nice intelligent lady putting up with him...beggars belief.
