Can you still drive when you have 12 points?

Does anyone know how many points you get for going through a red light?

Also, if you have 12 points is it a ban or can you drive on 12 and just if it goes over that that you get banned?

3 points for red traffic light.

If you incur 12 or more penalty points within a period of three years you will be liable to be disqualified under the ?totting-up? system.

Sorry ..

Called a TS10 - fixed penalty - 3 points and £60 finw, you'll then get a TT99, totting up of offences and a ban. They will only occasionally allow you to drive if it relates to your occupation..

Misread the title... thought it said "can you still drive when you've had 12 joints"

Bugger

Its my DH he is on 9 points - 3 points speeding in a 30 and 6 points driving without insurance (my fault, forgot to do the renewal on time OOPS)

On his way home from work last night he went through on amber but it had changed to red by the time he went through (silly I know)

Bugger, bugger, bugger

He works 12 miles away from our house with crap public transport

only think it's if you're a sales rep on the road all the time etc.. that they may be lenient.. i've done that before and not got caught. fingers crossed. it's not as if the insurance one was intentional...

It is possible a taxi driver colleague of dp drives with 13 points..judge allowed it on the grounds of his work and his weight and the unlikelihood of him getting another job so he was allowed to drive rather than go on benefits

Dh was banned for 6 months (+£60 fine) after getting 12 points (4 lots of 3 - speeding each time). My cousin's dh also got 12 points, but as he is a lorry driver, they didn't ban him, as it was his livelihood, but he had to pay a large fine (don't know how much). However, his 12 points stayed on his licence for whatever the length of time is that they stay, dh's were all wiped off (although the ban is on his licence.

For us, it was better to take the 6 month ban (although dh wasn't driving for 12, didn't insure him for fear of the cost), and lose the points, but dh can get to work by public transport quite easily, and doesn't need to drive for his job.
