ds2 has a school trip tomorrow and is asked to bring a packed lunch. now they usually both have dinners cos i am amazingly crap at packed lunches! i never know what to shove in there!

i am thinking -

2 ham rolls
baby bell
apple
hard boiled egg
packet of crisps
orange juice

plus 2 bottles of water for thru the day

i know its basic (cant afford the posh lunch stuff!!) but is it ok? or will his lsa look at it and go "my GOD that poor child, what a crap lunch...."

i feel like i will be judged on my lunchtime offerings!!

Just so long as you don't pack any blue cheese.........

sounds good to me

Blackduck · 05/07/2006 21:23

looks good to me - have you got raisins - ds loves them...

iota · 05/07/2006 21:23

sounds fine to me - what were you thinking could/should be in there?

fennel · 05/07/2006 21:25

it sounds the sort of thing I might pack. don't see what's crap about it.

just wondering how do you pack the boiled egg? my dds love boiled eggs but i can't work out how to pack them so they don't crack or go grey [dim emoticon] - do you peel them in advance?

How old is your DS? (thinking of quantities here)

Mytwopenceworth · 05/07/2006 21:34

chandra - he's 5, is that too much or too little for most 5yr olds? thing is, i know he'll leave most of it (he's a VERY poor eater and very very thin), but i live in hope he'll have a bite of something at least!!

iota - i thought maybe all manner of posh ultra healthy stuff that the better class of mother puts together! thats why i asked you lot!

he wont touch raisins BD.

fennel - boiled egg - i just thought it i wrapped it in clingfilm it would be ok - will it not be?

not that he'll eat it!

blue cheese mb - far too posh for this house!!

peeled and wrapped in clingfilm?

mine are 4 and 6, that's about how much they'd eat.

Chandra · 05/07/2006 21:39

I think is fine, I thought that possibly 2 bottles of water + orange juice was a bit too much water but, if they are not carrying the lunch themselves it should be OK.

Mytwopenceworth · 05/07/2006 21:43

his LSA would probably carry his bag - i am paranoid about him geting dehydrated being out all day at this railway watsit thing!

oh sorry yes fennel, i thought peeled and clingfilm would be ok - i'll let you know since no doubt it will come back uneaten!!

My five year old went on a trip last week. He had.

2 mini rolls with jam in
dairylea cheese thing (same as the babybel)
youghurt pouch thing
apple
some dried friut
6 cocktail sausagees
2 mini scotch eggs
2 cartons of tropical juice.

All that came back was the dried fruit!

I aslo put a couple of babywipes into a plastic bag for him to wipe down afterwards.
