Hi ALL
AND THANKS AGAIN FOR BEING SO HELPFULL opps
i am making an appointment at cs to take my 11 yr old dd and they asked for her to do a short audition .... any ideas on what they are expecting or what they are looking for? she just had a part in guys and dolls at school so could sing something from that but are they looking for her to act rather then sing ?
also if you join them can you still be with a model agency but not do tv work ? so sorry i know i should ask them but then i feel like im driving them nuts !

strawberrymilkshake · 19/07/2006 09:46

Lindac >> I think the main thing they look for is confidence. My dd done a poem called i wish looked after my teeth by pam Ayres. Some people do monologues i think it depends on the age of the child. They do not mind you being with a modelling agency as long as its only photographic.

mimi1uk · 19/07/2006 09:58

morning all my poor little mite is having a terrible time with his two top teeth pushing through he really is not a happy little boy at the min.he is usually so happy bless him

strawberrymilkshake · 19/07/2006 09:59

Ah your poor lo have you got soothing gel for him that seems to work wonders for a while.

mimi1uk · 19/07/2006 10:03

have gel and ashtons and parsons powder he is dribbling like mad, i normally go to baby group today but he is just too grumpy and i do not want to have a screaming baby for an hour, in front of everyone, he seems more happy at home

strawberrymilkshake · 19/07/2006 10:05

Bless him its so horrible when they are like that as sometimes there is just nothing you can do to make them feel better. Also them feeling poorly in this dreaded heat as hard work.

educatingrita · 19/07/2006 10:07

lindac- you should do acting rather than singing as thats what she prefers.
Any monologue or short poem will do, but something they can really put expression into. My dd read a bit from Charlottes webb.
Anyone needing ides there is an excellent book on amazon that a lot of people use its called short audition pieces for children or something like hat and its by Jean Marlowe. Loads of ideas in it, grouped into ages/sexes

She doesnt mind you being in a model agency as well, as its different but you should only do photographic so no commercials.

Hope that helps!

mimi1uk · 19/07/2006 10:07

its really upsetting me as i am not used to him being miserable he is just such a happy chappy, i am still bf and usually giving him that works wonders but he is not feeding and i am getting engorged and sore, i was up at 4am pumping off as i was in such a bad way, now i feel like crap as well, thinking i am getting mastitis, or how ever it is spelt, errghh

julie4travel · 19/07/2006 10:12

lindic- my son didn't have to do anything yet he is only just turned 6. he had learned a little poem yet he went in all relaxed (like he normally is sat there chatted etc and that was all she needed from him re his confidence etc) obvioulsy older children could sing a short song or read a poem or something. I wouldn't worry about it. I am happy now the website is updated and he has his first casting tommorow. Carole def said he can be with a seperate modelling agency as she doesn't do modelling. She is sole rep on the TV side of things.

Also i have ben emailing carole loads asking silly little questions so I wouldn't worry about it. She will start thinking I am a pushy mum soon. I just want to make sure he is at the right place tommorow and we aren't walking teh streets of London!

julie4travel · 19/07/2006 10:13

mimi- hope your little ds is better soon

strawberrymilkshake · 19/07/2006 10:15

julie4travel · 19/07/2006 10:31

lanismum · 19/07/2006 10:36

mimi, would ds chew on an ice cube? i used to wrap one in a bit of muslin and give it to her, seemed to work for a while, hope he (and you) feel better soon.

lanismum · 19/07/2006 10:37

lindac · 19/07/2006 11:04

she is on the BMA website and gets castings and had the odd job so she is use to them

julie4travel - good luck for tomorrow where in london do you need to go ?
im in london

educatingrita - thank you i will look for the book thats great

strawberrymilkshake · 19/07/2006 11:16

Whats the BMA website?

mimi1uk · 19/07/2006 11:18

bmamodel.com charge about £35 to put them on the website and they are allowed about 28 pictures

lindac · 19/07/2006 11:21

its the british model association
they dont charge a joining fee only about £30 web site fee and thats just a one of
my dd been on there about a year and had quite a few castings and around four jobs for things like dr surgery posters and healthy living campaings you just email pics every so often and they will update them

strawberrymilkshake · 19/07/2006 11:22

Do you think its worth while.

mimi1uk · 19/07/2006 11:25

i think it is worth while i was gonna go with them and pay the money but as kids is sole rep thats the problem,

lindac · 19/07/2006 11:26

well its not expensive and my dd has made much more over the year then we paid out and you can be with anybody else aswell so i suppose it just widens thier chances of work so yeah id say its worth it

lindac · 19/07/2006 11:27

she has a casting with them today after school for a libery poster as well
