DS got an ELC 'penny racer' car in a party bag today and he is driving me demented to get it working but I can't figure it out - anyone got a clue? Please, someone, get me out of my penny racer hell.

Pop a penny at the back of the car, there should be a little slit. Drag the car backwards to sort of wind it up and let go. The car should do a wheelie. It can be used without a penny tho, it will just zip along.

I love those - big kid at heart!

Lou33 - thanks so much for answering and pointing me in the direction of the penny slot (wouldn't have worked that out in a million years!). However, because I am having a very dim today I'm now having difficulty with the pulling back/winding up bit. The one we've got has a separate plastic y-shaped piece - is this some kind of launcher thing that slots through the plastic loopy things under the car? Any further advice REALLY appreciated!!

Dunno about that. I just put it on the floor, pull it backwards and let go!

Okay - now feeling VERY VERY dim. Just realised that the 'launcher' and 'loopy' things are actually part of the packaging - have removed them and it's working like a dream. One very happy little boy. Thanks so much - Mumsnet saves the day again.

My next question was to ask if it was the packaging! LOL. Hope he likes the cars .
