Does anyone know the words to "Tydi a rhoddaist i mi galon"? Would it be suitable to be played at a cremation service? Where could I find a translation? Has Aled Jones recorded it?

Sorry for all the questions. My Grandmother's funeral is this week and "Suo-gan" has been chosen but I do not think it is appropriate. I am trying desperately to find something suitable, preferably sung by Aled Jones, although it needn't be religious. Can anyone help?

is it 'Tydi a roddaist' 'thou gavest' that you wanted? Sung by Bryn terfel here

Tune: Tydi a Roddaist
Words: T Rowland Hughes
Composer: Arwel Hughes
Tune: Tydi a Roddaist

Tydi, a roddaist liw i?r wawr
a hud i?r machlud mwyn,
tydi, a luniaist gerdd a sawr
y gwanwyn yn y llwyn,
O cadw ni rhag colli?r hud
sydd heddiw?n crwydro drwy?r holl fyd.

Tydi, a luniaist gân i?r nant,
a?i su i?r goedwig werdd,
tydi, a roist i?r awel dant
ac i?r ehedydd gerdd,
O cadw ni rhag dyfod dydd
na yrr ein calon gân yn rhydd.

Tydi, a glywaist lithriad traed
ar ffordd Calfaria gynt,
tydi, a welaist ddafnau gwaed
y Gwr ar ddieithr hynt,
O cadw ni rhag dyfod oes
heb goron ddrain na chur na chroes.

Unfortunately not Pixiefish. I'm sure there is another one that is sung to the tune of "The Day Thoust Gavest Lord is Ended" that we used to sing in school. I have got the BT one but don't think that is right either.

Any suggestions?

Pixie better than me at this.
Ermmm....Calon Lan????

It is wonderful.

Dad wasn't keen when I suggested that Moondog. No-one will be singing, I think it is the piece played as the coffin disappears. I like Panis Angelicus with Bryn Terfel and AJ but can't see anyone else going for it. My Mam loved Coronation Street but I don't think anyone else would go for that either. DH and I are making a note of what we want so that it never comes to this.

There are some Welsh hymn tunes, words and translations on this site . Not the one you asked for, yoyo, but you might find something you like here - just click on "Cymraeg".
