At what age did your move up from cot to bed? My dd2 has started to show interest in 'proper' beds, she keeps climbing into dd1's bed and making makeshift beds out of cushions in the living room. I am a bit hazy as to when I moved my other two on from their cots, as there is quite an age gap between them and dd2. I am not keen on the idea, as she is not the best at bedtime and at least a cot 'keeps her in'!! But is she is ready I don't want to hold her back. She's 2yrs and 3mos by the way.

I moved DD into a toddler bed at 18 months. This was mainly because she really didn't like her cot. After a couple of days of trying it on at night, she was fine - well, better than she was in her cot anyway.

i didnt move my dd until she was 2yrs and 11mths.
unless they literally conk out as soon as u put them into a bed, then my advice is leave her in the cot.

hermykne - that's my big worry, my other two have always basically been asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow, whereas dd2 has been known to be awake for up to 2 hours before falling asleep!!! So, I want to keep her caged in as long as poss!!!

moved ds at 2 years 9 months because of peer pressure (on his part not mine!). his best friend proudly showed off his "big boy bed" and then cousin came to stay and was in a "big boy bed" and that was it. night after night he would lie in his cot saying "the problem is the bars..." and "I can't sleep in a baby's bed..." etc etc

we reckoned the time had come!

we got a bed and put a bed rail up and he didn't realise getting out was an option.

i moved dd when she was 3 i thought that was quite late, would have kept her caged longer as she also has sleep issues but she learned how to climb out !!!

Dd was just gone 3 when we got her a proper bed. But she's always been a good sleeper and goes off ok at bedtime. She wasn't bothered by staying in her cot so we waited. If your dd is a bit of a pain at bedtime I'd definitely wait!

we put dd into a big girl bed just after she was 2yrs as she is such a fidget and kept waking herself up by putting arms and legs through the bars. We are lucky that she always been very good at bedtime. Now she goes to bed at about 6.30pm and if she not sleepy although asked for bed she happily sit looking at her books and talking to her dolls.
