Why won't it let me cut & paste?

Never had a problem before when I've wanted to cut and paste for a link , just gone into edit and cut etc but today cut/paste etc cannot be clicked on. Why?

I'm sure there must be a simple solution but unfortunately the even more simple me doesn't have it !

Is the text you want to cut highlighted correctly?

What about copying instead of cutting?

Now I'm going to sound really dense.....I just went back to one of the links I couldn't do earlier as it wouldn't cut and paste to check what you said and it worked fine.

now wondering if I was forgetting to highlight it.
