have you ever experienced anything paranormal?

i'm afraid i don't. i was very close to my dad, and when he died i hoped i would 'see' him, but i never did. kept waking up in the middle of the night and wandering through the house in case he was there

sorry about your dad. i know from previous discussions that a lot of people on here do. i view this life as simply one part of a far longer journey and believe that when we die the essence of who we are continues to exist.

I sort of do believe, but I've never seen one. I'm sorry, but good old Derek on 'Most Haunted' has me in stitches so I think ghosts lose a bit of credibility on there.

One story I heard the other day was nice. It was on Home Truths on R4. A woman's father was dying and they were close. She said to him, if you can, please send me a sign that you are still around once you have died.

She asked him to send her a rainbow and now she sees them whenever she visits his grave. There was a double one visible on the day of his funeral and on the anniversary of his death, a news item said there had been an exceptionally high number of rainbows that day.

Things like that I like - if a actually saw something, I'd be terrified.

i'm really interested in the paranormal and have been since i was little. though i don't really like the most haunted sort of shows.

i believe there must be something in it, and haven't seen a ghost! but i have vivid dreams of my mum since she died.

I'm sceptical but my mum is adamant that there was one in our old house when they first moved in. Long story, but it sounds plausible to me, especially as my dad goes all quiet whenever it's mentioned and won't speak about it.

When my grandad died my mum and her sister could smell raspberries in his kitchen on the day of his funeral, but I couldn't. Grandad used to bottle raspberries out of his garden.

My mum's sister and her daughter used to smell grandad's pipe smoke in their house now and again. Sometimes they both smelt it and sometimes just one of them, but once someone else smelt it when they couldn't. There was no explanation for it as although my aunt smoked, she smoked fags not St Bruno!

I've never smelt (or seen) anything though, so I guess I'm either completely unsusceptible, or no-one wants to get in touch with me.

i dream about my dad too southeastastra, and they're very comforting. he's usually making a salami sandwich, his favourite. 6 years on from his death and i still don't think i've gotten over it! perhaps you never get over the death of a parent.

i love the story about rainbows tinygang.

when i remember something i can quite often smell an associated smell. i wonder if that was what was happening badhair? sinesthesia it could be.

i think i believe in ghosts - ive certainly seen something in my dining room and there's been a reasonably high incident rate in my house over the last 10 years or so

warthog · 01/07/2006 22:39

what incidents? what did you see in your dining room?

i posted on here before about it. very briefly i entered my dining room quickly late one night and saw part of a figure - it looked like it was in the process of disappearing but I just caught it IYKWIM. It was the right shoulder and arm walking towards my hall
