What do you do if an item you buy is in much worse condition than described?

email the seller back and explain about the shoes

how long have you had them for?

noddyholder · 30/06/2006 08:42

Its not shoes!I bought a sofa described as excellent condition which the cover is but the actual sofa has completely gone I had it delivered so hadn't seen it only the photos but it looks perfect just all the springs have gone. The sellers are really nice but have asked me to leave feedback and I do want them to know I am unhappy with it I now have to try and sell it myself to get rid of it and will lose a fair bit of money

that the first step to do is to contact them -(sorry about the shoes as ive just bought some shoes off ebay yesterday and im still half asleep!!)... well for a couple of days if no reply then you contact the ebay office on "Dispute console" and you explain to them.

biglips · 30/06/2006 08:46

WAIT for a couple of days - must go and get a cuppa!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yes contact the seller and explain your problem. A decent seller would refund your money and delivery charge if any. If they don't reply or refuse to negotiate, go here to report Item Significantly Not as Described and follow the links.

Thanks I feel a bit bad as dp says they may consider it ok as they are used to it but it is completely shot and a local upholsterer has said it can't really be fixed as the whole sprung unit has gone and they are not cost effective to replace

is this the one where you were getting it delivered by a courier?

noddyholder · 30/06/2006 09:09

Yes SEA it has been a nightmare transaction from the start.I am now stuck with a sofa I can't sit on and it was majorly expensive to transport!First time ever I have had a bad experience with ebay so shan't be buying anything like that again
I have emailed her and told her that the springs are shot and according to local upholsterer too expensive to even consider fixing as the springs are all one unit not individual and so the whole thing needs gutted

it's a tricky situation isn't it, they could say that you should have inspected it before collection - hope you get it sorted, was it expensive?

noddyholder · 30/06/2006 09:24

I paid £150 for it and it cost the same again to courier it I am 300 out of pocket and we still need a sofa!So be warned a bargain is not always a bargain!!!!!!!!!!!!
