oh god I'd LOVE a futility room
and an orchard

at least I have a garden though and DD is currently running round it and making it look fairly idylic

meowmix · 29/06/2006 15:52

arf!

(and no I REALLY don't want to smell cupcake's knickers either!)

Dingle · 29/06/2006 15:53

Eventually.........we want to extend, we are uhmmming and arrhing over ideas still. AS well as doubling the size of our kitchen we may be able to put a small utility on the back of the house.
ATM I have a huge freezer, spare frigde/freezer and tumble dryer sitting at the back of an old pre-fab garage. Not great but couldn't do without it now.

Hubby is in a little dream world and says he wants a hot tub incorporated into the plans too!! Personally I would be happy with the larger kitchen and no utility room, but we may need to extend further to make the upstairs big enough for a new bedroom and a bathroom you could swing a cat in!!!
One day.................

Northerner · 29/06/2006 15:53

I have never heard of that being called a Maiden.

Olive - you're showing yourself up linking to Argos. Happy meals and argos in one day.Tut. Stop it please.

welshmum · 29/06/2006 15:53

We call it a horse - maybe it's a Welsh thing....Moondog? WelshBoris?

dinosaure · 29/06/2006 15:54

We've got one, but it's tiny and has no sink .

Ledodgyherring · 29/06/2006 15:54

My maiden isn't as classy as that pic olive mine is white plastic and each piece is held by a little blue bit of plastic (apart from the broken piece)

SparklyGothKat · 29/06/2006 15:54

I will have a utility room in my new house, can't wait!!!!

bakedpotato · 29/06/2006 15:55

IS there a name for those cast-iron ceiling airers, the ones you raise and lower with a rope?
Man, I want one of those also.
And the high ceilings that go with.

oliveoil · 29/06/2006 15:55

erm, I am sure they have them in John Lewis or Twatroise

tortoiseshell · 29/06/2006 15:55

no

meowmix · 29/06/2006 15:55

do you think people ever DID swing cats as a unit of measurement? [scratches head in perplexed manner emoticon]

oliveoil · 29/06/2006 15:56

I have an airer hung from the ceiling

and high ceilings

but it is still a crappy terrace

would be worth ££££££££££££££ in London though

tsk

zippitippitoes · 29/06/2006 15:56

yes we used to call it a downstairs bathroom but that wasn't very posh so we took the bath out and called it a utility room

dinosaure · 29/06/2006 15:56

Aren't they called Sheila Maids?

welshmum · 29/06/2006 15:57

The cat in question was the 'cat 'o nine tails' whip that they used on board ship for keeping order. Hence the expression I think....
