How can a good day go so bad so quickly??

I was feeling all happy today at having won this weeks MN competition (I never win anything). We went out for a walk, DS was happy as larry, we came home and he started eating his lunch without fussing. All very lovely....

then.....

I heard this "tick tick" noise behind me. I turned round to see a blackbird behind me in the livingroom....

then...

I try to chase it outside, instead it decides to go back upstairs which is obviously where it came from in the first place as there is bird poo all the way up the stairs, all over DS's room and all over his cot and the spare bed. I haven't had the courage to check in the other rooms yet.

Is this my payment for winning the competition???

Erm... no, it seems like a payback for leaving the window open... (Chandra makes a mental note not to leave windows wide open and leaves thread>

Chandra · 24/06/2006 12:22

mawbroon · 24/06/2006 12:25

Fantastic ergonomic design! I guess it will be a great tool to catch the bird too!

mawbroon · 24/06/2006 12:31

and dh won't have to adjust it when it's his turn to catch the stray birds

I've just checked the other rooms and yes, the little blighter was in there too. Poo all over my bed and also the bathroom.

I will put ds for a nap in his travel cot and then get cleaning...

Oh no how awful. I didn't think birds attempted to get into houses.

champs · 24/06/2006 15:04

oh no!!!

hope you've sorted this out now

flutterbee · 24/06/2006 15:06

Sorry I find this really funny

Just think how you would have felt if you had been having a horrible boring day and this had happened, it would havebeen even worse.

Caligula · 24/06/2006 15:08

Oh horror.

Is it out now?

One once came down a chimney, but I was lucky, my au-pair heard me shreik and dealt with it. I just came over all laydee and unable to confront it.

southeastastra · 24/06/2006 15:08

i had two pigeons in the house once too, hope it gets out!

mawbroon · 24/06/2006 15:17

Oh I chased it out of the house within a couple of mins of seeing it.

I was outside hanging up other washing and I told my next door neighbour what had happened. She's put a load of my washing into her machine as I have three extra loads as a result of this little bird. Wasn't that nice of her.

And you're absolutely right flutterbee. I do find it quite amusing now that everything is back under control and everytime I use my prize from the competition I can think about the day that the bird poo'd everywhere.

aww that was really lovely of your neighbour!!

sugarfree · 24/06/2006 16:03

I have a magpie stalking me at the moment. It sits in the garden and makes a noise like a dog barking,I swear.
If it actually comes in the house,I'll have to call 999.I think it may try to make off with ds3,it's huge!

oh dear. Hope you've been able to clean it up.
My cat brought in a bird and two of it's fledglings once. The chicks were dead and the bird was hiding in the corner but there was bird poo everywhere.
Finally got it out but it wouldn't leave the garden (I think it was waiting for it's chicks) and the cat killed it two days later.

heavenis · 24/06/2006 16:13

Bird poo is supposed to be lucky. Have you done the lottery for tonight.
So sorry you've got alot of mess to clear up.

mawbroon · 24/06/2006 16:27

sugarfree - we have magpies too. They are horrible. There are four or five of them live in the big tree in the garden. There was a pet eagle owl escaped in this area a few months back and peopple were being warned to be careful with their small pets and I seriously thought it could make off with ds who was around 5 months at the time!
heavenis - yes, I've got the lottery on. Surely I couldn't win the MN competition and the lottery on the same day.....

Awww - It was your name that I recognised . Sorry for whinging .

How did the clear up go?

You deserve the sling so much more than me after a day like that!!!

mawbroon · 24/06/2006 20:52

The clearup went fine Flameboo. I was just waiting on the little tweetie bird shitting on my newly laundered sheets etc as they hung on the line, but fortunately it didn't...
