Need to shine some 1p and 2p coins (to decorate a rocket control pad for nursery tomorrow)
Don't have anything like Brasso. Any suggestions please?

QueenPeaHead · 21/06/2006 20:39

drop them in a can of coke overnight

cece · 21/06/2006 20:39

ketchup

VVVQV · 21/06/2006 20:39

drop em in coca cola or vinegar for a few hours.

QueenPeaHead · 21/06/2006 20:39

snap!

beansprout · 21/06/2006 20:39

Brown sauce works but in the curious absence of that, coke. Fat or thin.

Furball · 21/06/2006 20:39

Apparently soaking them in coke for a while brings them up like knew, not tried so don't know.

Tommy · 21/06/2006 20:45

was going to suggest vinegar - used to have to do this for Thinking Day when I was in the Brownies.....

Posey · 21/06/2006 20:47

Deffo brown sauce

CatBert · 21/06/2006 20:47

Cillit Bang - surely?

Posey · 21/06/2006 20:52

No brown sauce left, so have some soaking in vinegar and some in ketchup. Will see which works quickest and best!

Posey · 21/06/2006 20:53

Sorry Cillit Bang, isn't that the stuff that cleans anything?!

Blandmum · 21/06/2006 20:54

vinegar, or brown sauce

waterfalls · 21/06/2006 20:54

They will come up shining if you give them a bit of a scrub with a nylon scourer, must be nylon though, metal ones will scratch I imagine.

cece · 21/06/2006 22:10

any results yet?

Posey · 22/06/2006 20:52

Both shinier but still a little disappointing. Wanted seriously "just minted" shine
Am off to buy duraglit tomorrow (do they still make it?!)

lucykate · 22/06/2006 20:57

Posey · 22/06/2006 20:58

Not unless you've been languishing in my kitchen for seveal hours covered in vinegar or ketchup

Posey · 22/06/2006 20:58
