URL = Uniform Resource Locator (or "web address"). Those mot people see start www.mydomain.com/blahdiblah/index.html or something like that but there are other prefixes like ftp:// or gopher://

Ok, 3 replies and 3 diffs for exact meaning of URL. I thought it was Universal, but could very very very well be wrong as seem to have lost my brain whilst bringing up kids.

i dont really need to know what it was abbreviated from, just what it was

"the address in the bar at the top" would have done
