When the jellys set, pour hot water around the mold itself. That should loosen the jelly enough for you to be able to turn it out.

Jelly in mold - very posh!

But don't leave it in the hot water for too long, as you risk melting too much of the mold, and ruining the effect

BadHair · 14/02/2004 17:01

Is it something to do with dusting the mould with cornflour before you pour the jelly in? I might be wrong on this, but it sure beats the "greasing" method that my dp tricked me into trying.

BadHair · 14/02/2004 17:02

Ah, hot water sounds much more likely than cornflour. I don't know where I got that from.

happycat · 14/02/2004 17:09

It's only kids jelly moulds the plastis things I'm not Mrs Bucket could never be posh in a million years.

hot water on the outside will do the trick

I find I often also need to run a sharp knife-tip or metal skewer-tip around the top edge to release the suction before turning over.

roisin · 15/02/2004 15:58

Dh can de-mold jellies better than I. Gently loosen the jelly with a knife round the edge, then upturn it onto a plate, and shake up and down fairly violently ... bingo!

Karen99 · 15/02/2004 16:55

Sorry to high-jack - does anyone know a jelly that doesn't contain loads of E numbers and additives etc?

roisin · 15/02/2004 19:28

Karen99 - sounds highly unlikely to me - sorry! You could always get some gelatine and make some yourself. Otherwise just keep the jelly for special 'throw the rules out of the window' occasions.

Karen99 · 16/02/2004 09:44

Thanks roisin. Thought that would be the answer!! Just got some gelatine so may give it a go...
