Do you send party invites out to school in July?
or try and catch people in the summer?
DD2 will be starting reception after her birthday so can't wait until she is at school.

My dd has a birthday at the beginning of September. In her reception year we had a halloween party so she had a chance to get to know some friends beforehand.

Last year I tried to invite people during the summer hols & it was very hard to organise as a result. Not sure how to play it this year yet!!!

If at all possible, avoid having the party in the holiday. Lots of people tend not to reply at the best of times, no-one will remember if you send out invites in July, and no one turns up in August whenever you send invitations.Sad
Can you do it a bit late?

Before we have just invited friends and family with the kids from nursery we know really well,

we also have to make sure it doesn't clash with dd1s bf party like last year

dd2 birthday is 1st sept, no idea what to do, think she wants to invite one person from pre-school, so do i arrange it all now?

nikkie · 19/06/2006 20:03

We will prob have it the weekend after her b'day.
I'm thinking about planning where and when now then more nearer the time.
Its when to invite people.

dd's birthday is the 7th September, and this year fell the day before she started Reception. We had her party a couple of weeks into term. Luckily she only had 11 children in her class so we could invite them all. This year we are toying with the idea of having it in July joint with ds's party that I haven't got around to arranging (we are attempting to move house, and I just haven't go the energy).

Personally, learning the hard way by not doing in July one year, I always send dd's out in July now. Nobody forgets and it's less stressful than turning up the first week of school with invites not knowing who may already have plans.

nikkie · 19/06/2006 20:33

Think I will do that and there will be some I see in the hols to remind them.
thanks

dd's is end of August and we plan to send invitations out before the end of term. She started Reception last Sept and knew noone so didn't m,a,age to sdqueeze a party in before the September born kids had theirs. Hope they don't reshuffle the classes around as that would mean more to invite at last minute!

Have booked the party and bought invites now have 3 weeks to write them!
