Mine was a September wedding so I went for an autumn theme. My colours were cream and gold, I had old gold bridesmaid dresses, golden yellow roses and cream orchids in my bouquet, and the same for the bridesmaid posies and hairslides, and my cake had icing decorations of blackberries, acorns etc. I still love it 10 years on!!!

\link{http://dilbertblog.typepad.com/the_dilbert_blog/2006/05/wedding_favors.html\PMSL that a blog article about how shit wedding favours are turns into comments about where to get the best favours and how much fun they are, honest}

VVVQV · 19/06/2006 23:03

sneaky you scare me sometimes with your googling Grin

cazzybabs · 19/06/2006 23:29

We had lillies as our theme, with black BM dresses (to shock my mother) and hot pink! Although the dds were in ivory dresses with hot pinl shrugs. Had a bloody expensive wedding cake with lillies painted on it. Still love my weding - which is lucky as it was only two months ago! Although dh is in my bad books!

we had no favours but bought each table a sheep (to send to Africa).

collision · 19/06/2006 23:34

Just had to get back to the original post Wink.

alexsmum · 20/06/2006 10:52

this favour ide is bizzarre! gifts for the guests?

we did the sugared almonds for the ladies thing and we bought bracelets for our bridesmaids and booze for the best man/ushers etc. but that's it.

can't believe how many 'traditions' get invented as a way of people making money.

MrsDoolittle · 20/06/2006 10:54

where is the pirate sex thread? I can't find it
I need a laugh

tallmummy · 20/06/2006 10:56

December wedding here so very original went for red and green. Lots of Holly, ivy and berries. I wore a dark green embroidered velvet coat with a big fur collar (but not a furry muff - stop it)and my bridesmaids wore deep red silk dresses and little shrugs. They still froze though.

NomDePlume · 20/06/2006 10:58

July wedding.

Muted gold, cream/ivory & deep fuschia pink. Flowers were cream Akito roses and Stargazer lillies (my absolute favourites)

JoolsToo · 20/06/2006 11:00

shotgun wedding

cowboy boots and hat

MrsBadger · 20/06/2006 11:04

Themed weddings are an abomination, as are favours.

All our flowers were white or cream and the bridesmaids wore a colour that happened to suit both of them, but wasn't matched to anything else at all.

Hate weddings where the groom has obviously been forced into a lilac cravat to match the bridesmaids.

Gingerbear · 20/06/2006 11:10

October wedding. No theme as such, (ie flowers, cake and waistcoats matching) but the bridesmaids wore burgundy and cream dresses.

I tell a lie, my brother was the best man and had been on the sunbed the day before ('so I don't look too pale in the photos') HA! his face was the same colour as the bridesmaids dresses! Grin he has never lived it down.

FlameBoo · 20/06/2006 11:22

May wedding - all a sort of duckegg blue that matched DD's eyes perfectly (and DH's but that wasn't my priority Blush). I knew that the colour would suit all of the bridesmaids too, so it wasn't as if I was forcing them into some sort of hideous colour.

Flowers were all cream. My dress was gold/"sparkly cream" depending on who you ask Wink.

I wasn't really interested in a theme as such, just that I had seen this blue and was adamant that it needed incorporating somewhere for DD's eyes... then everywhere we went they wanted to know "colours" so they could add it in - so where as for me I wanted it in the cravat (that was my only thing I was very sure about), it ended up being in everything.

The florists were told to do what they wanted with regards tables etc, and they carried the cream and blue theme on.

MrsDoolittle · 20/06/2006 11:24

July wedding.
Very much a country wedding. Sweeet peas, cornflowers, loads and loads of flowers and ivy draped everywhere.

FlameBoo · 20/06/2006 11:25

Just read the rest of the thread - sprayed coffee at the pirate theme!!! I'll probably still be sniggering at anything pirate related when I am 80!
