you could contact 0845 601 4040 they should be able to help you.
Or else you can order online and usually get free delivery.

Hi Helsi

I had a similar story. My team manager was on his honeymoon so the application was waiting for him on his return. I would ring the number on the website, haven't got it to hand. What area are you in?

K x

trinityrhino · 19/06/2006 17:31

I have been a re, have you really thought about all that is involved, it's quite hard on your time and generally thankless and not very profitable

:this is just my opinion on my exerience

Helsi - forgot to mention that as soon as he told me he was on his honeymoon I forgave the delay in response from Avon. How long ago did you apply?

trinityrhino · 19/06/2006 17:32

Karen - Leeds Area
trinityrhino - not in it to makes a load of money although some will be nice. It's just something I fancy doing.

OP posts:
helsi · 19/06/2006 17:35

those who do it - how much do you enjoy it? Is it as thankless as trinityrhino says it is?

OP posts:
karenj1980 · 19/06/2006 17:35

Not in Leeds otherwise I would of rung my Team Manager to tell them. Well I am about if you want to chat about Avon. I am only on my second campaign, its not very profitable but I'm doing it to meet people and exercise. Let me know how you get on x

karenj1980 · 19/06/2006 17:38

I would say that it takes a few campaigns to make money and it just depends on you, how much you want to make. Its 25% if you do orders of £135. Brochures you pay for and the bags. I'm new to it but I am currently just trying to build up sales.

april74 · 19/06/2006 17:39

I been doing it about 5 years.

It can be a pain at time, avons customer service is crap, but the majority of the time I do enjoy it, build up a nice round and make usually £100+ per campaign.

YellowFeathers · 19/06/2006 17:40

I did it this time last year Helsi and packed it in after doing one brochure as it cost me in the end.
You have to pay for the things you use like bags, brochures, order forms etc. You'll also have to pay an admin fee too.

To keep cost down I recycled the brochures and order forms but this meant going back and forth to collect them and re-distribute and then I had to go back to deliver the items people ordered.

Sorry.

heymammy · 19/06/2006 17:45

Hi Helsi, I'm an Avon Rep in Glasgow and I was quite surprised to find that I love it. I started doing it about 2 years ago when dd was one and just kept on going!

It's not hugely profitable for me but that is because I want to keep my customer numbers down (currently see around 30 customers each campaign/brochure and make on ave. £50 each time).

Oh, and it only takes me about an hour to deliver orders, an hour to collect the books in and an hour to make up the orders when the stock arrives...which is the most exciting part! Smile

If you want to know anything just give me a shout!

helsi · 19/06/2006 17:46

heymammy - thanks for offer. do you mean you make £50 for yourself or take orders totalling £50?

OP posts:
heymammy · 19/06/2006 18:56

I generally take in orders of between £150-£200 each brochure so with 25% commission that gives me up to £50 for myself.

You do have to pay for brochures and paper bags etc out of this but its really not very much like 60p for 100 bags or something so they last a while and a few pounds for brochures.

Are you giving it some serious thought then?

helsi · 19/06/2006 19:52

yes I am - I have already applied on the website but waiting for somone to contact me. I justwantedto do something to meet more people and geta bit of exercise (hopefully I will get a local area that I can walk to).

OP posts:
helsi · 21/06/2006 17:56

I did it - I am now an Avon Rep and possibly going to become a sales leader at some point in the future.
I have 8 streets around me to deliver to so I am going to buy some freezer bags tomorrow, bag them up tomorrow night and deliver Friday.
I will collect orders on Monday and redistribute Tuesday as she only left me 40 brochures so will need to recycle some.
Was thinking about putting in an introduction letter from myself in it too rather than just plonk it through someones door. what do you think?

OP posts:
MadameButterfly · 21/06/2006 18:19

I helsi,

I am a sales leader with Avon. It is good money when you build your team up.

I always put a note in introducing myself. and saying when I will collect the book. Freezer bags are a good idea, that way you can ask them to leave the book outside for you to collect without disturbing them and it will stay dry if it is raining.

Good luck.

Hopefully see you on the Sales Leader Forum soon.

helsi · 21/06/2006 18:34

Helsi, that's great news! You sound very organised and I'm sure you'll be a Sales Leader in no time

The intro letter is perfect and it will be good for your (potential) customers to know that you are local.

I've found what works for my customers is to always call round when you say you will. It seems to build up their confidence in you and they can rely on you. Also, they will probably have their money ready to pay for their order so they won't need to ask you to come back later

Good luck with your first campaign...it all starts here

helsi · 22/06/2006 07:40

just a quick question. do i leave their copy of the order on collection of the order or on delivery of the products?

OP posts:
heymammy · 22/06/2006 18:58

Well, I usually end up with both copies as the customer tends to just fill in the form and stick the whole thing back in the book for me to collect. Then when I deliver their order I just staple the form onto the outside of the paper bag.

I don't think it matters too much. Some customers do take their top copy...more to remind them when I'm coming back and what they've ordered!

How's it going so far...have you already received your books etc?

helsi · 23/06/2006 08:14

I have my books have bagged them all up & delivering today. need to pick them up monday as need to redeliver as not got enough for my area. manager coming back next friday to show me about ordering etc

OP posts:
helsi · 23/06/2006 10:57

Heymammy,

I've delivered my books but 2 of the streets it appears has a lady so I think they may have been allocated twice or she is doing outside her allocation. Still have plenty to go at though.
I am going out MOnday to pick up the orders (if any) and redeliver to streets I didn't get to as I ran out!

OP posts:
karenj1980 · 26/06/2006 20:24

helsi - how did it go today on collecting your brochures. hope you got more than i did on my first time - 0!

longwaytogo · 26/06/2006 20:51

I've been doing avon for a few months now , started really well then dipped then had a month where i didn't place an order, but have just delivered my street, should be doing a few others too but not sure about them last rep for those streets told me they were not good. Only got about 4 orders back from my street, so not such a good response really.
