Milton Keynes Bowl advice needed

Am due to see Take That on saturday at Milton Keynes Bowl.

Haven't been before, can anyone help?...

Is it easy to park there?
Inside, I gather there is no seating, is it chaotic finding somewhere to "be"?
Can you take chairs to sit on, or do you just plonk yourself on the grass until it starts?
Can you take food inside, ie picnic supper?
It is 3.30pm doors open, I ought to get there for then shouldn't I?

Any top tips would be brilliant, thanks!

My friend said to me the other day it is a nightmare to get out of

To catch the bus to the station they had to wait in the dark on a country road with no security people for hours

And so she said it was better to be in the car so that although you will be hours in the car park you are safe iyswim

LaylaandSethsmum · 18/06/2006 20:11

Agre with RTKM. I saw Robbie there and you can get in to park easy enough but we sat for 3 hrs before we even moved then it was another hour getting onto the M1!!. I think they do a good park and ride system though!

bluesky · 19/06/2006 09:00

Oh OK, that's really positive stuff!!

What about inside the bowl, sitting and stuff?

Park and ride does sound a good plan.

Hi,
You cant take bottles, plastic or glass I am afraid. I'm not sure about cool box etc . Might be better to take stuff in plastic bags that you can throw away later.
Have a great time. I saw them at Wembley arena, the show is fantastic!!

bluesky · 19/06/2006 16:56

thanks loujay

seat wise is my main question, can you take chairs in, or do you just sit on a space til it starts?!

bluesky · 19/06/2006 17:26

thanks lotoseater that is great.

I see no seats, just a mat allowed and no umbrellas incase it rains - as I may use it as a weapon, so have to take black bin bags instead!

Right, just need to plan my route in and go with the flow on the way out!!

bluesky · 20/06/2006 17:25

sanchpanch, as you've been before, where would you recommend to aim for, to sit and watch it from?

well it does get very packed towards the stage, which i tend to avoid i tend to sit/stand on one of the hills either at the sides are in the middle, it doesnt tend to ever feel very packed in there even when it is sold out you seem to be able to move around easily, when you get there walk around and see what you prefer, the bit in front of stage is flat so i can never see very well from there so prefer to go on the hills!!

have a great time

moondog · 20/06/2006 21:29

If you are early enough try to park in the Toby Inn carpark (10 mins walk north of the bowl). I think they tend to close the carpark once it gets busy, but if's definitely worth a try as it's easy to get out of and easy access to the A5.
There is loads of room to park in the bowl itself, but you'll still be there in September trying to get out afterwards! Grin

my main tip if you're going with kids though is to sit on the bank facing the stage, near the pathways... as it's really easy to loose each other after a trip to the toilet in the crowds.

bluesky · 21/06/2006 12:18

thanks for the information, think I will aim for the side banks. And the Toby Inn sounds a top tip!!
