I've been happily pootling away on MN whilst DS sleeps but out of the blue the computer just made these weird noises - a few electronic sounding notes, like the beginning of a tune!

Why?

I don't recall pressing any different buttons. Its never done it before

doubt it's going to burst into flame or indeed song - it's probably just an auto-check noise meaning mail's come in / gone out, an MSN has arrived / someone's added you to their contacts, some software has automatically updated itself, or something equally innocuous.

Thank you Mrs B -I'm not too tecnically-minded so it could be any of those I suppose (apart from MSN as we don't do that). It was just so odd, it took on a life of its own for a few seconds! Smile

How many windows have you got open atm? We had something similar a while back, and it took us a few days to realise that one particular page we left on had a musical advert, it just played a few notes but it was worrying for a while.

Only got Outlook Express and Freecycle at the moment -don't think its that.

It hasn't done it again (yet!). One of life's mysteries I suppose.
