So how do you play Yu-Gi-Oh!

DS6 has asked me every morning for 6 days now and I have no idea. I did glance at the instructions a few months ago but have now lost them.

It's just a complete mystery and looks complicated

Help needed

Can't be done. Totally impossible to make heads or tails of the enclosed instrctions.

When my son went through his yu go o phase it was a case of him and his school friends making their own rules up at school playtime then when he asked me to play I went along with the gist of the stuff he was telling me.

I don't think either of us had a clue what we were doing , just making it up as we went along, but he just loved the fact I was doing it with him!!! All that matters really, isn't it!

My ds1 and ds2 could tell you - in minute detail - and also anythig you wanted to know about Pokemon too, but of course they are at school at the moment. Perhaps I should direct them here when they get home?

you will never understand the so called rules. its basically a card trading game and the fun for them comes from the swapping. i used to admire their cards / "play" with their explained "rules" but my god it is the invention of the devil. glad when that phase passed. football obsession much preferred!

if you still need to know this evening bump this and I will get ds (14 ) to answer as it made no sense to me:o

lol after posting this I googled How to Play Yu-Gi-Oh and found a demo. God it was complicated. By the time the 'board' was set up and the monster types explained, I'd lost the plot and after watching my computer opponent play their first hand and my return 'challenge' I realised I hadn't taken any of it in, was totally confused and tabbed (firefox) back to Mumsnet for some sanity ;-)

Phew - anyone that can try to explain the gist of the game and the easiest rules - please help
