Anyone WORK for HOUSING?

Here's the hitch.... DH jsut been told he will be discharged from the British Army by Chirstmas this year.

He has to wait until he has had the next operation (due any time in the next few weeks) and then the paperwork will go through - been given 5 months max.

We have no money - live on tax credits week to week, obviously live in an Army house, so nowhere to live.

Are we an urgent priority for re-housing with my local council (in Ipswich where i lived pre-army) and if so how does it work?

Many thanks if anyone can help.

Hi hun sorry to hear that puts you in awful position. I would contact your local housing association and tell them that effectively from nov you will be homeless so need to put your name down now on list. Also enquire about what if they have not rehoused you by then what will happen.

I have no idea, but in your shoes I'd be calling the housing department of the council I wanted to house me and asking them. At least then you'd be getting info that was relevant to the council you are applying for, rather than people telling you how it works in their neck of the woods (possibly varies from council to council).

thanks both of you.

will have to make an appointment to go and see them.

just wondered if there was still a duty to councils to house ex-forces or not?
