Its not so much the age Cam but as Tamba said more the thought of your mum still 'doing the deed' if it was a stranger that was 40+ and pregnant then it wouldn't be strange in the slightest. (btw my mum isn't prgnt im just speculating) Grin

LOL@ Tamba about your 'sex year old brother'... I can imagine thought that when the age gap is that large the relationship is more like niece/nephew, I think that I would be in danger of being to motherly toward my little bro/sis if there was that much of an age gap....how old did you think I was?? (out of interest)

Cam · 12/06/2006 17:09

x posted bubblez

lou33 · 12/06/2006 17:11

bloody hell i am 40 in jan, does that mean i have to stop doing it?

bubblez · 12/06/2006 17:12

lol@phscoflame - my dads gf is one year yonger than me Shock

so I would be suprised if my next thread is 'OMG my dad is having a baby with a girl a yr younger than me'..... PMSL

Cam · 12/06/2006 17:18

You mean you're still doing it Lou? Wink

lou33 · 12/06/2006 17:21

when i can find someone foolish enough to let me get my hands on them, yes

LadyTambaOfTambaTown · 12/06/2006 17:25

LOL its not the age thing, its just that fact that its my mother Shock

I thought you were in your mid 30's bubblez although that would pretty much be my guess for most people on here Blush

OMG at my typo BlushBlushBlush He is 6!

It's ok Tamba, we know, it's not natural is it Grin

Believe me 43 is not old though girl

Wish I was still 43 Grin

bubblez · 12/06/2006 17:31

LOL @ Cam and Lou

I asume the same, that everyone is at least 30... I keep thinking that someone is going to turn round and say to me 'what do you know, your just a child yourself' one of these days...PMSL!! Grin I'm sure they won't though

lou33 · 12/06/2006 17:32

cam, did it bother you turning 40?

i'm leaving the country to cope with my 40th!

Cam · 12/06/2006 17:46

No Lou it didn't because at the time I was p/g with dd2 (now aged 9 +) and let's face it, in the scheme of things, its still young Smile

Now, 50 (5 days ago) that's a different story Shock

Alipiggie · 12/06/2006 17:50

Congratulations to you and your Mother. As another mnetter on here old enough to be your mother with two small ds's of my own, made me delighted also felt old :o especially as have just literally had another birthday. I can imagine it was a shock though! I'm sure your mum will be more than happy to have all the help she can get from you and your sister.

Cappucino · 12/06/2006 18:12

are we going to get a grandparents' area now then?

where they all discuss when they get their bodies back and where to buy the best leisure suits

Cam · 12/06/2006 18:15

We all only wear beige Cappucino

LadyTambaOfTambaTown · 12/06/2006 18:17

AlliPiggie

Are you in the States ?

flutterbee · 12/06/2006 18:18

How lovely Grin

There is a 23 year age gap between my oldest brother and my youngest and my Mum had the youngest at about 43 I believe.

Cam · 12/06/2006 18:29

Tamba I'm sure this happened a lot before the advent of proper contraception when women had 14 kids

As we have a fertile period of up to 40 years what's so Shocking

It could happen to you in 24 years time

lou33 · 12/06/2006 18:30

i agree it is still young, but i seem to have a mental block about it, i never used to care how old i was until i hit 35

belated congratulations on your birthday btw Smile

Cam · 12/06/2006 18:31

Just think of yourself as lucky to reach that age Lou, after all what's the alternative?

Thanks.

BudaBabe · 12/06/2006 18:33

Go I could be your mother too Tamba! Scary!

I had first at 37 and hoping on doing IVF again in August at ripe old age of 42 (but it's IVF - no sex involved!!!).

Cappucino · 12/06/2006 19:22

Cam beige? Are you sure? I thought the colours of choice for the granny around town were burgundy and emerald green... or maybe that's just my mother Grin

Cam · 12/06/2006 19:25

We try not to stand out at the (primary) school gates Cappucino

Xavielli · 12/06/2006 19:30

I know what you mean about ages on here. I always think everyone must be 30ish.

Silly really as I am 20 and have 2 children!

It would appear I am the baby of the group tho.....

bubblez · 12/06/2006 19:45

Hey another young mum hiya!!

That is what is good about mumsnet though, that there are so many diverse groups in age etc able to come together, share experiences and advice. Grin
