Cam · 10/06/2006 18:58

Tamba, I have 2 dd's 24 years apart

tribpot · 10/06/2006 19:00

peachyClair - my step-FIL was in his sixties when he had his children Grin (He's now a sprightly 92).

LadyTambaOfTambaTown · 12/06/2006 12:26

Cam - how do your kids get on with such a big age gap? I am wondering if i will see this child more like a neice or nephew than a brother or sister?

Still think my mom is mad though Grin

My sister knows now and was as shocked as me.

Enid · 12/06/2006 12:30

I have a brother who is 20 years younger than me, mum had him when she was 44.

jampots · 12/06/2006 12:30

tamba - is your mum from these parts. I was just wondering if I maybe went to school with her??? Blush Grin

GDG · 12/06/2006 12:32

WOW!

And Wow Cam!

Cam · 12/06/2006 12:58

Tamba, obviously my 2 girls are a whole generation apart, so their relationship is more like aunt/niece. Particularly as my dd1 has 2 children of her own who are essentially the same generation as my dd2.

However dd2 loves having a grown-up sister, she thinks its pretty cool.

Cod · 12/06/2006 12:59

there s oethign you dont often read on mn

NomDePlume · 12/06/2006 13:05

Congrats to your Mum

Tamba, don't you also have a sibling who is about 5 years old ? So surely your relationship with this new baby will not be all that differnt to your relationship with your other young sibling ?

lazycow · 12/06/2006 13:21

Congraulations to your mum and hopefully things will be just fine but I would ditto what was said earlier re the length of the pregnancy. Once you reach 40 the rate of things going wrong in the first 12 weeks is very high. I know being 41 and having had two early miscarriages myself.

on re-reading that I realise it probably sounds too negative - I am happy to know it can still happen at that age so congratulations again to your mum.

QE · 12/06/2006 13:36

congrats to your mum tamba! In this day and age this seems to be becoming the norm, I'd say.

I have a brother 22 years younger than me from my dad's remarriage. His wife is only 9 years older than me. Smile

Cam · 12/06/2006 15:41

congrats to your mum

weird to think i am closer in age to her than you though!

Cam · 12/06/2006 16:05

Oh Lou there's lots of women on m/net who are closer to Tamba's mum's age than Tamba's - and some of us are even older than Tamba's mum Grin

bubblez · 12/06/2006 16:38

Shock ummm congrats to your mum.... I can imagine that it must be slightly wierd for you (im 24 and my mum is going to be 44 in july)....

Cam · 12/06/2006 16:46

But.... there's lots of women the same age as your mothers on m/net, surely we all know that women can p/g at any age before the menopause, why is it so strange?

It is strange for me, I am trying to stop thoughts that my mother has a sex life from entering my head Grin

I do have a sex year old brother who is more like a nephew to me than a sibling.

bubblez - i totally misjudged your age ShockBlush

Another reason she is mad is that she had very severe spd last time and my youngest brother was nearly 10lb!

i know cam, but it just felt strange Smile

PsychoFlame · 12/06/2006 16:55

This is lovely news:)

I (psycho that is) have a brother who is the same age as my eldest child. they are both 12....I was 21 at the time. Strange feelings went thro me tho.......was thrilled for them both, but also felt so odd at my dad also being a 'new' dad. and, my stepmum is only 9yrs older than me too, so I am actually closer in age to her than my dad isShock!

hope all this goes well for her:)

Cam · 12/06/2006 17:05

It is strange to think that anyone's mother has a sex life Tamba, best not to think about it Grin

Due to second marriages etc nowadays there are lots of mixed-up generations in families, its fun in a way though.
