How much do you spend on clothes in the average month?

This links into the school gates fashion parade thread. I have just realized how small / limited my wardrobe is.
I usually wear jeans and t shirts and have some lovely ethnic jumpers. On average I spend about £100 a year on clothing for myself, some of it from charity shops and Ebay. My partner spends about the same and due to hand me downs ect. I spend very little on my childrens clothes. Am I tight?
I do go looking for clothes but rarely find anything I like (I think I am stuck in the late (70's price and fashion Blush) if I do find things I usually get put off by the price and don't buy it. Do others update their wardrobe every season? or just buy when clothes wear out
Food and days out I rarley consider the cost as I get so much enjoyment from these. Would I enjoy clothes more if I spent more or just be angry at my self for wasting money

In an average month????? About £20 I suppose. I have jeans that are older than my kids Grin

Clothes budget goes on the children because they grow - selfish little b*ggers...

Thanks joelalie Lol at children growing how true.
Some of the mums at school must spend hundreds each season and I just don't get it.

I do spend on clothes, not excessivley but more than some. It is my treat and I work hard for the money. I sell old clothes to fund my habit. Grin

I buy a key fashion items that can all be mixed and matched and worn with jeans etc ....wear them to death then get another lot when I have ruined everything!!!!
But I do shop carefully and in cheap shops like New Look.
None of the clothing I own is more than a year old and I now have only a tiny amount compared to the days when they were all spilling out the wardrobe.

I really really like clothes - always have. I used to make/salvage from charity shops but haven't had the time for years. I probably spend about £300 on stuff for me about 3 times per year, and stock up for DS in the sales. Its my only real indulgence.

But I don't think not spending a lot on clothes makes you tight, and it doesn't much bother me how people are dressed.

Sometimes nothing, sometimes £10 or £20.
I am skint. Grin
If I wasn't I would thoroughly enjoy clothes shopping and would do it a lot.

Even when I have money, I tend to seek out bargains. Am not tight, just like good value, hence think TKMaxx is brill. Pull out old favourites year after year, then buy new vest tops for instance (this years best buy, £5 for 3 in Peacocks) Will last the summer.
So on average, I guess spread throughout the year it would work out at £20 - £30 per month.

I really resent spending money on clothes in a size I'm not meant to be so I buy hardly any at the moment.
But when I get back to my proper size, I will be spending about £30 a month.

Fillyjonk · 09/06/2006 23:04

oooh, i do like clothes shopping. But have no money.

Probably...depends. Maybe £10-£20 but that'd be a month where I had literally stormed the charity shops. Or bought a new coat.

I really find being too skint to buy nice clothes very very depressing.

HOW have I killed this thread, fgs?

Tortington · 09/06/2006 23:44

i am feeling quite smug at the moment. becuase we do out shopping predominantly in charity shops. - recently we have started taking the old clothes to be recyled. which means i am buying from charity and giving to charity.

i havent got a lot of clothes atm. i think thats becuase ihave about 2 years worth of washing in the cupboard upstairs.

schneebly · 09/06/2006 23:44

erm - have spent a total of about £40 in the last 6 months on clothes for myself - and that was mostly new underwear! lol! I am not buying myself any more clothes until I am a respectable sizeBlush. Well - I will have to start buying some if - no when I get to size 16 because I haven't been that size since I was 17 years old (10 years ago) and I think the clothes are long gone!
