OK. I'm stuck. What on earth are 9 year old boys into nowadays? My nephew's birthday is this week and I need to get him something. Probably looking to spend around £25.

If you are "Fun Auntie" try a stomp Rocket from Amazon or Argos. Simple fun.

Do you know the website www.iwantoneofthose.com?
Lots of ideas there.

I think you need to ask what he's into to get it right.
My 9yo DS suggests Lego, cars, 5xBlue Noses. Blue Noses are his top choice. But few boys would want same.

Skylanders
Lego
Water guns
Ds game
Wii game

Lego Galaxy Squad stuff.

Basketball hoop, baseball bat and ball, goalie gloves etc if he's sporty.

Or voucher for/Xbox/wii game.

Lego, meccano.
Science/magic set.
Dynamo DVD box set (my DS loves him).

I'd throttle OP if she bought DS a voucher for a Wii game; we don't have a Wii (Skylanders/Xbox/etc.)
Just saying do your homework.

Another thought might be an I-Tunes or App Store voucher. DS is 9 next week and shares an iPad so will appreciate an app store voucher.

Yes to Lego, vouchers for Wii/Xbox/DS game/skylanders (better to let them choose for themselves) or take them shopping for one yourself.

DS is getting a microscope, also requested a chemistry set

Science Museum shop is good for inspiration. They have outdoor gadgets that might be great for a 9 yr old in the summer holidays. You might find things cheaper else where though.

Lego is good, even my ds (9) likes it and he can be quite narrow minded/blinkered with toys.

These snap circuits are supposed to be great.

My DS would like Lego, minecraft, Dr Who or anything science related. He also adores books.

Be careful getting anything console related - there are so many different ones and I know some of DS's friends have xboxes, iPads, Nintendo, laptops, DS's, but not all of them have all those consoles, so unless you know what computers/games they have or use, I would avoid it!
