Looking for a not-too-pricey (thinking about 50 quid) trainer. I'm running about 15 miles a week mainly on roads and get really sore on the ball of one foot (am running in x-trainers - Reebok - so not ideal). Suggestions urgently needed as want to order them today! Thanks, Dinny

I wear Asics dinny, doing 15-20 miles a week. Think my current ones are GT2080. I wear a gel insole in one as I get a sore foot and achilles sometimes.

hi dinny. if you possible can, get to a proper sports shop, where they can see you run and suggest the correct trainers for you. where do you live?

Tutter · 07/06/2006 08:30

possibly

dinny · 07/06/2006 08:35

Dinny - I get all my stuff from \link{http://www.bournesports.com/Public/Running_Shoes_Womens/10020.htm\here}the shop is quite near to me. They're brill, knowledgeable staff and really good deals. They do mail order too.

dinny · 07/06/2006 20:04

am now the proud owner of a pair of Asics (can't remember which but they cost 69 quid, so blooming prcey!) BUT, they are sooooooo comfy. So thanks for all your help (and I also got those gel insole things, just in case). Can't face running anywhere today though as boobs are like concrete as have dropped about 10 feeds a day far too fast, lol.

Been too hot for running here - might go for a quick dash after Holby.

dinny · 07/06/2006 20:23

OOh I want to get back into running again. I've got a pair of Saucany and they are very comfy.

Been out of the game for a while.....

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 07/06/2006 20:30

I have a small handy bottle - need a new one though as I noticed yesterday it was pretty grotty inside Shock

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 07/06/2006 20:30

Go on Northerner........you know you want to!

leogaela · 07/06/2006 20:49

I like Saucony or Mizumo. good to hear you've been out and got a proper pair Dinny.

I had a round the hand water bottle but when I was marathon training I didn't find it held enough water so got used to holding a small mineral water bottle (filled with tap water I hasten to add!) in my hand. Strange at first but I got used to it and prefered it to the round the hand bottle.

dinny · 08/06/2006 08:25

fliiping heck - have got mastitis I think (agonising boob, temp, fluey feeling) - hav been trying to cut dow ds's zillion bfs to 3 a day. gggggrrrrrr.... no running then for now.

People who have Asics, what do you think of the level of cushioning/comfort. I went to Sweatshop in Teddington and was talked out of my usual Nike purchase and got Asics. But, I don't like them. Will go back to Nike on my next pair.

I have an arch that collapses when I step on it, so need good structure in the shoe. But, the level of cushion seems quite poor. Deffo miss the Nike cushioning. And my new shoes were £110.

I think I'm going to go to \link{www.profeet.co.uk\Profeet} for some custom orthotics. Has anyone been?

Uwila · 08/06/2006 10:31

Sorry, \link{www.profeet.co.uk\profeet}

Uwila · 08/06/2006 10:32

Better work this time!

I got some asics today Dinny. Tried them out on a treadmill and didn't feel a complete idiot since I went early in the morning when the shop was practically empty. They filmed me running in various shoes and then showed me the results. My left ankle was most stabile in the asics. I could really see it too. Don't you just love high tech?

I found the Nike ones I tried uncomfortable. They have something hard in the middle of the outer foot which presses against my foot. Maybe I have weird feet. I found asic more comfortable but I'm not an experienced runner -in fact I haven't even started yet!

SSSandy · 08/06/2006 13:17

oops meant to add paid 70 euro, think that's a middle of the road price
