Stunning place, wonderfuly kind people, brilliant campsite, perfect in every way except the midges! Grin

Your advive made the holiday perfect so Diolch Cariad! Slate mine in LLanberis is fantastic. Used my residual Welsh and was treated like minor royalty for giving it a go Grin

One question....how ever did you mangade not the put a hit out on the (now departed) Mnetter who said that Wales was shit? I was insulted, but now having seen where you grew up I would have expected you to utterly explode at the insult! Grin

Thanks again m'dear.....you really did make the holiday for us!

tee hee, Moondog, yes, we all saw it.

sorry, knew we'd spoken about Scilly before - bit of a stressful time for me as my dad poorly (he's been flown off by air ambulance recently) and so am a bit forgetful.
I'm off home weekend after next, actually, can't wait.

Sorry about your father. Sad
Is there a hospital on the islands?
Do all 6th formers go to the mainland then?
Is there a state boarding school near,or do people lodge with families?

Excuse my questions, island life fascinates me.

Moondog, yes, there is a hospital on St Mary's (no anaethetist - except when visiting periodical for minor surgery). It's basically a cottage hospital. They managed to stabilise my Dad on his last 'episode' with IV drugs - would have flown him away agin if that failed. The last time he was flown away the Sea KInd cam out to get him at 3am (God bless them). In the day, it's the normal air ambulance.

Secondary school on St Mary's goes up to 16, then you can got to state school (and lodge with families) normally in Penzance or pay for yourself and go to private school - paying top-up to the LEA grant - (which I did) and board there termly.

sorry, what a hijack!
