have bathed him
have washed eyes with cold water
have put a cucumber slice on his eye

still red ... still complaining of pain

artificial tears from any chemist, they are slightly oily so smooth the surface of the eye as well as washing it and are soothing. Have to give drops to DS if he has been in the pool too long as he's very sensitive to chlorine. You might want to go for googles in the future.

Soak some cotton wool in milk and leave on his eyes or keep rubbing them with it. Works on dh when he has allergic reation to cats.HTH
