First bed - 2ft 6 ot 3ft and does it matter?

Ds2 is about ready to go into a proper bed now. I've cooed over the toddler beds, but realistically I want something that's going to last more than a couple of years, so a "proper" single bed is on the cards.

However, I'm feeling horribly indecisive between a 2ft 6 bed I like and a 3ft which I like less, but is more "standard".

2ft 6 will fit in his room better (he has the box room) but how easy is it to get new mattresses, fitted sheets etc for them? Is he more likely to fall out (as less room to roll over?) Would I be better off getting a standard 3ft?

I like 3fts because you can turf them out for a guest and also there is more room for snuggling stray parents/siblings in the night. :)

Oh good point! Ds1 has been talking about going to give ds2 a cuddle if he gets scared - I should encourage that Grin

ooh DEFINITELY!

Georgina, we were given a junior bed for dd. It is really hard to find fitted sheets for that size bed. John Lewis used to do them but have stopped. I would advise the 3ft bed.

Ooo... and the 3ft one is actually slightly shorter (by a matter of centimetres) so I'll still be able to fit the chest of drawers along that wall as well... sorted!

Ta mp :)

I did wonder about that Mercy .... I don't remember seeing fitted sheets for the smaller size when out, but then I wasn't deliberately looking of course.

2ft 6 is standard bunk bed size. I got a matress easily, and sheets aren't too hard to getif you want white.

i can fit in to cuddle (just) but am pretty slim. I have also slept in it, and it's fine.

DD1 went from this to a 4ft bottom bunk., and still falls out!

we got a full single for ds when he was one and I'm very pleased with it. Like mp says it is a good guestbed plus now he is almost 6 he fills it a lot more. I think toddler beds are a real waste of money.

Hmm... also quite like the \link{http://www.sleepingsolutions.co.uk/home.php?cat=69\my first bed} (and bizarrely seems cheaper when you work out the cost for the mattress} - anyone any experience with the my first beds? I can't seem to find dimensions other than the mattress dimensions.

ARGH ... just noticed the typo in the heading... sorry. Should be "OR" not "ot" :)
