Where do birds go when they die?

I have been pondering this all day. Why dont you see many dead birds on the ground around trees?

Where do they go when they die? Surely they dont ALL get eaten/run over.....?

I dont know why this is bugging me so much.

It's a mystery on a par with why you never see baby pidgeons. Have you tried googling?

they go to our lawn to die and decompose, for our dog to then find them and have a good roll in the putrid remains [gag]
