New mum gifts?

I'm trying to build a hamper of little gifts for a friend expecting her first baby. I thought I'd fill it with things I found useful but didn't know I needed - like hooks for the buggy! Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!

What a Lucky friend!

Healthy snacks. Most days I didn't find time to eat lunch. Fruit or really nice cereal bars would be good.

How about some things for those first ailments, like some Snufflebabe chest rub, Calpol and cradle cap shampoo? Baby massage oil? Pile cream for her (she may thank you - I thanked my friend who warned me to buy some before DC1 was born!).

dry shampoo was a god send for me after having dd and feeling too exhausted to shower everyday even though we were inundated with visiters. also the obvs stuff like nappys, baby wipes, bibs? (i didnt realise how many bibs one baby can get through!)

Dry shampoo is a genius idea!

You guys are fab - thanks for the suggestions, will def pick some of those up, never considered food-type gifts but that would have been a big help to me in the early days too! Dry shampoo & baby meds are also great ideas! I've already got infacol, baby coat hangers and a few other bits so altogether hopefully I'll get all bases covered!

I would have loved this post baby - perhaps you could do something similar

OMG - that would have been perfect for me, my mum actually brought blue cheese & crusty bread to the hospital for me!

Your friend is very lucky !! It is nice to know there are such kind people about.
