Hi To All You Lovely Mummies Wink

I really wasn't sure where to post and really not used to this site anymore, but I'm a Netmums convert!! So any tips you have for me re this site would be great! Smile X

Run while you can! I love MN but am slightly addicted.

Stay in the topic areas that interest you rather than venturing into Chat and Am I Being Unreasonable if you ever want to see the light of day again.

Have a read of the threads in Classics as a lot of the in-jokes will then make sense.

Brush up on your spelling and grammar if needs be :o

Hi AndHarry! Wink

Oh I was so so addicted to Netmums too, but I kept getting banned from the mods on there! And quite literally for no apparent reason - maybe I'm a little too opinionated, but there were far worse on there! It's also more of a thrashing forum Hmm You post something and then seem to be picked on over it Confused

Anyhow, wanted to give MN a try for a while but it's always looked a little overwhelming Confused !! Any tips would be great Grin x x

Welcome to MN.

Just get stuck in.

marriednotdead · 03/06/2013 07:45

No random kisses! (Sometimes acceptable on places like the bereavement threads.)

Or calling anyone Hun unless you're taking the piss.

You can swear though Grin

Welcome Smile

ChrissieTay · 03/06/2013 17:33

Can you 'like' posts? Or can you receive notifications when somebody replie to a post I'm on, or have started???

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 03/06/2013 18:07

You can't like posts and you don't get notifications when you get a reply to your posts.

Some of the threads on here are hundreds of posts long. You would end up with hundreds of e mails.

MardyBra · 03/06/2013 18:12

Welcome to MN.

Most of us use Threads I'm On (I'm On ^^ up there) to check on threads where we've posted. Active is also useful to keep up with what's current.

Remember to bow to royalty like usualsuspect Wink

Oh and take a hard hat into "AIBU". I suggest lurking for a bit to get a feel for the place.

usualsuspect · 03/06/2013 18:24

I'm not sure how to take that post,Mardy.

MardyBra · 03/06/2013 18:26

Just in a mischievous mood usual. Sorry.

AMumInScotland · 03/06/2013 18:29

One useful feature is "Customise" - that lets you hide sections that you have no interest in, and those threads won't appear on your "Active" section either. I find that reduces it to something a bit more manageable.

"Threads I'm on" and "Threads I'm watching" are useful for letting you keep important threads visible.

Oh and you will still get picked on for things, just different things from NetMums Grin It's best to avoid kisses, calling people "hun", and using txtspk if you don't want to get abuse.

usualsuspect · 03/06/2013 18:36

S'ok Mardy Grin

BriansBrain · 03/06/2013 18:43

Welcome

MN is great, if you are bored we can give you things to google to pass the time...

I always like to give newcomers this little gem - someone posted a link to it when I was new - very helpful - all the 'Rules' you'll ever need are right there.

Smile
ChrissieTay · 04/06/2013 07:25

What's the big 'hun' issue then ??! Wink

For me, it's the falseness of using terms of endearment on total strangers. There is a lot of support and help given but we are not actual friends yet.
