Is this why my internet is playing up?

I ordered broadband and the delivery was supposed to arrive today but didn't. Got an automated text though saying the line has been activated.

All day my internet has been playing up, (freezing, saying Cannot find server & all that), would this be why do you know or should i be worrying about my computer? I know it takes a while for broadband to sort itself out but i haven't even set up the broadband yet, i'm still using dial-up.

yes it cuold be

do you have splitters on your phone points yet? Little cable-things that split the line into ASDL and analogue? Have you got any?

No, I think they come free along with the modem, with the delivery? It's BT broadband.

If the broadband line is up then your computer will find it a bit "noisy" and the signal will be a big buggered - probably explains your problems.

When you get your splitters, you need to stick one in each phone socket. Then there are two outputs on each splitter - one for your phone and one for your new modem. Each phone needs to be plugged into the phone socket part of the connector, and your new modem needs to go into the other bit.
