Microwave not heating - is there any hope?

Microwave is not heating things up although it is making the noise as if it is (and lights are on etc).

Anyone got any ideas?

sounds a bit terminally :(. try just with a bowl of water and see if that helps.

Have you just used it ? Ours does that if it overheats (?) -eg if I put potatoes in for 5 mins to start them off before they go in the oven the microwave doesn't want to work again immediately afterwards.

It shouldn't be termninally ill - only got it around Christmas. Grrr if it is dying.

ours did that last year and I'm afraid we had to replace it
It should still be under guarantee though if you only bought it at christmas.
