Do you have your groceries delivered? If not, why not?

I've done this a few times in the past, but I've just started getting them delivered regularly once a week and I love it.

If the service is available in your area, do you do it? If not, why?

started when i wasn't allowed to drive for 6 weeks following an op, and haven't looked back...

I used to, was convenient and never had any problems, also, as i don't drive it meant i didn't have to trek up to the shops twice a week with the DS's.

I don't now tho. I leave the boys with DP and ring him to come get me when i am done, i enjoy the peace lol! will go back to deliveries when DC3 is born tho

No. We do most of our shopping at the farmer's market. The rest of what we need one of us goes and gets alone - if it's during the week, DH goes after he gets off work at 11PM to the 24-hour ASDA, if it's at the weekend, I'll generally go along on my own.

DP tends to do our weekly food shop and he claims to enjoy it ?!?!

I suggested we shop on-line and get it delivered but he likes to see what hes buying, handle the goods (so to speak!) first and look for special offers and new products.

Also we tend to use the local shops for some things (fruit & veg, bakery and butcher).

Sometimes I do.
Some things are better in one shop than another though. i don't do all my shopping in one place all the time, and some of the substitutions and missing items have caused big headaches.
DS has food allergies so I need to be able to read all the ingredients on the packet if it is something I've not had before, and that is not always available on the website.
Having said all of that Ocado are the most reliable and they usually have everything you order, but there are some things I still need to get at other supermarkets or shops

i quite enjoy going to the supermarket. sometimes, gasp, i even take the children. dd likes gurning at little old ladies, & ds dashes around getting everything (on a good day obv). i have used sainsbury's online & ocado before & they were fine, but i prefer doing it myself.

I don't and if I'm honest I like having my weekly trip to the supermarket (i suppose it will change when dd starts the "I want that!" mullarkey and throwing tantrums. There are a number of places we can order online from but I love shopping and browsing and I really like to see what I'm buying

i don't, its the one time of the week i get to go out on my own, usually 8am on a sat morning. i actually quite enjoy browsing the supermarket when its quiet.

but i can see making use of it when we move in a few weeks as we're going to be upside down for a bit

i sometimes get mine delivered if i dont have much time, bit i prefer to go to local shops (ie independent chemists/butchers/grocers) for my shopping

i can only really do this on my own on a saturday morning when dh can stay with the girls, as they are not good shops for buggies and tend to be busy

plus its easier to browse and chat and catch up on local gossip when you dont have children with you

I do occasionally, but in general like to choose what I'm buying in the meat and fresh veg sections.

Can think of loads of reasons not to. They can give you manky fruit and veg (even Waitrose, gasp shock horror), short use-by dates that all coincide, and the £5 delivery is a hell of a lot more than it would cost me to do it myself. In fact if you handed me £5 I wouldn't choose to spend it on having someone deliver my groceries. But sheer laziness (working full time) means I often do it.

no, only did it once and didn't like it. Now I go to the farmers market and then get the rest myself from waitrose/sainsbury's.

Yes I do. Sainsburys deliver weekly, and have just started having fruit and veg delivered seperately from one of these rganic places too.

It would "cost" me more than a fiver to go and shop - my time is more precious to me than that, plus petrol, wear and tear on the car (and on me!), etc, etc.

no,i try to use supermarkets as little as possible.The farm shop I buy my meat at does deliver but ds loves going there because he can look at the animals we're going to eat !

I have in the past, but I love using local baker/butcher/farmer's market/grocer, and Lidl of course. However, I have had to use online this week as I have no time for shopping.
BUT I hate: stuff that is 30 nanoseconds from it's sell by date, the overripe fruit and veg (I always have an organic box delivered now, or buy locally), and the 3000 plastic bags it is delivered in.

I used to get tesco deliveries, but I got sick of the idiotic substitutions, wilted veg, meat in damaged packs, smashed eggs etc.

I prefer buying meat at the meat counter rather than the pre-packed meat too - it's better quality and takes up less space in the freezer because there's less packaging.

am a bit tempted to get ocado delivery though, keep forgetting to try it.

I try to avoid supermarkets,but have a fruit&veg guy and a fish guy who call.
Also get wine delivered.
Does that count??

Register with Ocado a while before you plan to try it - they'll email you tempting offers of money off and freebies to entice you to try it Grin

I'm think of switching over entirely to delivery. I used to do it once a month for heavy/bulky items and some groceries and do a food shop every Saturday. But last Saturday I was in a bit of a sleep deprived haze and I lost my car park ticket. I walked back over everywhere that I'd been but couldn't find it and ended up having to pay £13 (not that's not a typo Angry) to leave the car park. I work one day a week from home anyway so it would be handy to have a delivery then.

I only do if I really am too busy. I like to actually see what Im buying first, sell by dates and all that.

DS is well behaved most of the time (when we dont have to call the fire brigade to get him cut out of the trolley because hes got his arm stuck), he likes to 'help' and as sad as it is, we can have a nice time together.
