Is anyone else despairing today at the thought of entertaining children inside for yet another day?

Mine have been positively angelic this morning but my heart it sinking at the thought of the living room (now coverted into One Big Den) the kitchen (they've been Helping Clear Up) and the whole of the upstairs (they've been Playing Shops).

Gah! I'm hiding on the computer, hilariously searching for garden furniture.

my friend is having a BBQ for her son's birthday - we shall be going over in a bit Shock. Everyone will be crowded indoors.

It's so grim isn't it? it's one of the rare occasions I wish I still lived in London...thinking longingly of the Nat Hist museum at the moment.

We may have to wrap up and get wet in a bit.

glad I am not the only one who is annoyed at the british weather. FFS I thought it was summer..???!

azroc · 21/05/2006 11:08

Don't mean to boast, but...
My ds1 and ds2 are playing happily together!!!(This is a rarity! Perhaps rain has soothed the savage souls...) And eating fruit! Dd1 is reading and dd2 sleeping in my lap. Oh, and I'm planning beans on toast for lunch. Mums are allowed to have it easy sometimes, aren't they? Of course you never know how long it will last...

TinyGang · 21/05/2006 11:11

So much for the drought. It won't be the right sort of rain or something thoughWink

littlerach · 21/05/2006 11:13

Wrong sirt of ground, apparently Wink

It won't sink in, so could cause flooding.

puddle · 21/05/2006 11:14

Is it raining everywhere then? Smile

GDG · 21/05/2006 11:19

Yep - wet, wet, wet here. But off to Majorca next Saturday and it's looking rather nice over there. This is just depressing.

Gillian76 · 21/05/2006 11:21

Quite nice here today. We are planning a BBQ later so hope it stays dry at least!

TinyGang · 21/05/2006 11:21

Envy Oh that's right..just go off and enjoy yourself. No really, don't give it another thought!WinkGrin

Harrumph..!

biglips · 21/05/2006 12:55

we managed to have a bar-b-q last sunday.. even though there was dark grey clouds overhanging us, the second we ate all our foods, it started to throw down (the rain must've been waiting for us to finish eating Grin)

nutcracker · 21/05/2006 12:59

Raining here too so my dad hasn't come to move my rubbish Sad

Oddly though the kids are all behaving and playing quietly (well mostly).

Blimmin' miserable here. We've just been swimming and now dsd and are painting (on paper I hope and not the settee). It's beach season, what's going on?!

puddle · 21/05/2006 13:18

Ok our plan in a bit is to wrap up and head for the woods for some exploring, get sodden, come home to muffins and hot chocoalte and family cinema.

Feeling more cheery now.

But it is winter weekend activity that I thought we'd left behind until October!

It is depressing weather isn't it?
My husband has taken my boys to a castle & left me in peace!

GeorginaA · 21/05/2006 13:22

We went up to the loft and got some toys down that we'd packed up ages ago (for space issues) and brought them down - kept the kids interested all morning, thankfully.

Sick of it though, we got the boys garden toys for their birthdays at the beginning of May (a slide and a cheapy playhouse) and they haven't been able to use them yet!
