Anyone had their house painted?

I live in a 3 bed semi. The house could really do with a fresh coat of paint (on the outside). Just wondered if anyone could give me a ball park figure of how much it would cost.

We had ours done a few years ago, they did the eaves, window ledges, etc as well and I think it was 1200

What windows do you have? Wood or uPVC?

We have wooden ones, 4 bed emi, white render. To pain/repair windows, soffits, render (incl raking out/refilling cracks) garage doors and clear gutters £2500.

brimfull · 18/05/2006 13:19

we had rendering painted for £350.No windows, gutters etc.Took him and another guy a morning to do itShock, and we bought the paint.

okkkkkkk...

think i should change the question to:

has anyone painted the outside of their house themselves? !!!!!

That figure didn't include any windows as they are pvc...

zippitippitoes · 18/05/2006 16:18

yes we've painted it ourselves Grin

DH painted ours - he hired trestles and scaffolding from the hire shop. We do have a tiny little terraced house though.

TheLadyVanishes · 18/05/2006 18:02

my god 1200, got a quote a couple of months ago and it due to get done in June and only getting charged 230GPB and that includes the paint!

ja9 · 18/05/2006 19:22

now, theLadyVanishes, THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!!

I think it probably depends on where you live to what you get charged, so if you live down south you will more than likely pay treble (thats how it works down there isn't it??) no offence btw Wink ja9 is there no one who can recommend someone to you and failing that go through the yellow pages and get some quotes Grin

i did think htat i should go and ask some neighbours whose houses look freshly painted! i'm new to the street and our house is lovely onthe inside but skanky on the outside! but i wanted to have some kind of idea of cost before i pursued it any further, as we can't really afford it just now... but it badly needs done.

thanks for your posts.

Ah, I'm London/Surrey borders. bound to be more expensive. Unfortuantely. :)

Definitely ask neighbours. I've gone with the guy I've seen doing next door's house and one over the road.
