The perfect bath?

Not your average MN question but you get the best advice here!
We are about to move house. New home has teeny tiny bathroom (feet mixed up with metres maybe?) so we are going to rip it out and start again.
I luurrrrvvve my baths so need a decent one, but also with DS now graduating from baby bath and future siblings planned, we'll need one suitable for dunking them in to. I am think separate shower cubicle in en suite, then bath/shower mixer in bath.

Do I go for showerbath? Slipper bath, corner, mini roll top? Standard acrylic?

Any views?

not an expert i'm afraid but i think most designer types would sniff at a corner bath.

also - think about getting one without taps at the end - ours has the taps wall mounted, and the bit where the water comes out (?!) on the side of the bath (it's pretty flush against the bath side).

We have showerbath and is great!!! Big enough for 2 kids or 2 adults!

I think a shower cubicle is fine if you have lots of space, but unecessary really - unless you like to shower while the bath is already occupied.

In one house, had a corner bath, great for kids, but useless if you want to lie down, nice and wide but not very long, so next house bought a extra long and wider bath, perfect width, thought it would be good in the length, but too long, so I was either sitting up or drowning as feet could not reach other end, so this house (yes we have moved alot) bought a standard bath with taps in middle (v. important) and shower above, if we had a big bathroom, I would have a seperate shower as I don't particularly like the look of shower screens or curtains (too messy) HTH (don't I waffle on )

anniemac our showerbath is normal bath length, but round and wide at the shower end.

double ended bath with taps in the middle with a shower attachment for rinsing hair / giving shower baths

corner baths look silly if you have the space and I like to be able to lie down in a bath properly

I'm going with Twigletts views, esp re wine glass and book stand. Have already drooled over Bathstore.com catalogue...Am going to spend lots of time lying down in bath shops this weekend...try before you buy!

we had a double ender 1700 long in our last house and it annoyed me (one from bathstore) cldn't lie down in it (cos it had a ridge) and the tap in the middle meant you couldn't put hot water in wehn it gets a bit cool cos you burn your tummy. gone for same length normal metal bath in new house and it's great (about £90 from travis perkins) though i hate it went for the non slip finish for the kids and for showers which works well.

can I also recommend that you check the bath out for a ridge that runs around the length - mine has one and it is perfect for resting elbows on when reading.. everyone loves my bath for this -- makes reading in the bath just so relaxing.... people stay in for hours..

A bath big enough for 2 adults

I love baths and like to add more hot water as I lie there. My sister's house has a posho rolltop bath with taps in the middle along one side - looks fancy, but it's awful because you can't add hot water without it splashing you. So if you like a log soak and top-ups, don't get one of those. Classic, deep, long normal bath with taps at foot end, I say.

Catherine Zeta Jones said the key to a perfect marriage was for each to have your own bathroom...don't like the woman but maybe she's right. If I had finances for a CP Hart bathroom, I definitely won't be sharing it. Probably wouldn't ever leave it actually. Somehow think bath toys don't go with cool limestone/marble clad havens. Think we have decided on a solution (sadly not from CP Hart, but financially better sense from B & Q) so thanks for comments.
