Insurance company replacing laptop.....

Central heating went mad at the weekend, joint broke and sprayed murky c/h water all over my desk - laptop, laminator, paperwork etc.

Insurance company (Direct Line) are collecting tomorrow to assess. If they can't repair (which I suspect is likely) what will they do?

Replace with model of same spec?
Replace with model of equivalent cost?
Send cheque for amount we paid?

Or is it up to individual Insurance Company and there is no 'norm' in this situation.

Thanks

most replace with similar model don't they?

saying that though, we just got a cheque when our freezer broke down.

Our insurance company offered a replacement from their source. Unfortunately their source could not match the spec of our dead laptop.

We ended up getting a quote for the spec of our laptop and the insurence company sent a cheque to them to pay for the laptop.

I had a replacement laptop with Direct LIne last year, they replaced it with a model of same spec, very good service imo,
