Ok i am currently pg with no 2 (26weeks)andneed to decide what to do after this one born to stop any more lol.

I can't take the pill (combined nor mini pill) and i am not bothered if my periods stop with injection or obviously if my fertility is affected, but have heard it can make you bleed more (couldn't stand this)couldn't be bothered with condoms and don't want a coil.

So has any one got any advice or experiences they can tell me about?

I had it once when I was 16, had no period for 6 months, but also had v v bad mood swings - 10x worse than any pmt. I won't be having it again.

(sorry should have been 3 month - didn't have the injection again went onto the combined pill)

If you search the archives there are several threads on this subject.
From those threads you will find that the injection is a nono for many reasons.
Personally i was on it for about 6 years. I bled for the first 8~9 months daily when i went on it.
Suffered from depression which has NEVER EVER happened to me before. It is contraindicated in people with a past history or tendancy to depression.
Took 2 years for my fertility to return to normal, i know you are not worried about this but i bled almost constantly in this time.
I put on 2 stone.

Have you considered the implant?
If you have horrid side effects, you could have it removed.
Its in for years (not sure how many but 5 is ringing a bell)

Oh god, it doesn't sound good, don't think i will be having the injection then, will have a look into the implant, thanks everyone Smile

ive had nasty experiences with the injection...both myself and my sister started having palpatations after each injection and we were warned off them for life..so im not a good advert!

I have the Implanon implant and to be honest it has been great for me (too heavy for the combined pill but mini pill needs to be taken twice a day and working shifts I couldn't guarantee taking it at the same time every day). The implant is inserted, you have a pressure dressing over it for a couple of days to help the swelling and to keep it in place, and once it's healed it stays in for 2-3 years (can stay in place for up to 3 years maximum but because i'm a big bird, 5"3' and 15 stone, they say I can only have it for 2 years because I use up the homrmones faster than other people). hth Wink
