Can't decide if this question is designed as confidence booster or self-flagellation but here goes...
How many RL friends do you have? Apart from DH/DP. Proper friends rather than acquaintances. People you would phone and invite over/out for drink/in a crisis/tell your secrets
I have...
two

I had one that I could tell anything to but our lives have been getting further and further apart and we haven't seen each other in nearly two years Shock. I think we will get it back when our lives change again though.

I have one current friend that would do anything to help at any time of day or night but I don't know that I could tell her anything......not that I don't trust her but I've only known her 18 months.

Other than that, nobody really. Not as sad as it sounds Grin

I have lots of people I chat to, mums at school etc. And I regulary have interesting chats with the fish man, the guy that cuts the grass, the window cleaner, the checkout ladies in Tesco, old ladies in the street, old men in the street for that matter. I sometimes reveal more to the people I pass by than I do to anyone other that DP or my mum. Its a crazy world Grin.

5 in total - 2 best girlie friends one who I've known for 34 years and the other for 29 years they are like sisters to me. I have a male friend who I've been friends with for 26 years. It started of with me being madly infatuated with him and years later we are still best friends. He has had a tough couple of years his dear mum died and his wife left him in the space of 18 months. He rings me every week for a gossip and he has helped me through some difficult times too. I have 2 girlfriends who I go out clubbing and pubbing with and we have become closer over the last year.
I am lucky to have a good network of school mum's we meet up for lunch a few times a year.

Y'can't shut me up now!

And on MN I am completely transparent and tell anyone anything! Not safe surely.

hermykne · 12/05/2006 13:37

i remember someone saying that you'll count those you u can depend on and trust on 1 hand when one reaches a certain age.

i think i have 2 best friends and then dh.
plus some very good firends , 3, but i wouldnt tell them everything.

Yzzy · 12/05/2006 13:38

None... but then I don't trust anyone so that suits me fine Wink

I have a few people I have met from online and few that I talk to on my website. But as they aren't people I would call if in trouble or for a chit chat I guess they dont really fall under the friends umbrella. They seem like nice people though.

I have recently met a few people who I will be working with and am surprised at how 'like me' they are... so perhaps I have been mixing with the wrong people and nappies and baby puke chats just aren't my bag! lol

Does anyone know anyone from school still??

hermykne · 12/05/2006 13:40

yzzy one of my b friends is from primary but i wasnt really friends with her in secondary.

Dior · 12/05/2006 13:40

Are you the same Yzzy who was on Raising Kids?

groggymama · 12/05/2006 14:45

a couple but it takes a lot of work to meet up and phoning is hard cos there is never a good time so i'm suprised when I find I have any at all - that's why mn is so good

blueteddy · 12/05/2006 14:55

I have quite a few friends - my friends are very important to me.
I have my sister, who is my best friend, my friends at work, my out of work friends & my MN friends.Smile

Ummmmm let me see, there's errr, no, not seen her since school, Oh but there's.......no, they don't actually like me, Oh hang on a minute there's, oh, no I don't like her....

Hmmmmmmm, so it appears I have no friends. Plenty of people I know and talk to, but no-one expect DH and my mum that I trust and there is sooooooo much that I don't talk to anyone about, which I'd be able to share if I had a friend Sad >

Actually, TBH not really bothered, I've always found friends a hinderance - sad huh? I've always been blessed with 'friends' that latch on to me and take advantage of my good nature so not really friends at all.

myermay · 12/05/2006 15:05
