Video suggestions?

Does anyone have any good video suggestions that have a musical content? I noticed the tip of the day today was the Baby Bach and Baby Mozart videos - are they any good and what age range are they supposed to cover?

We bought ds (22 months) The Snowman just before Christmas - he absolutely adores it, and particularly seems to love the 'walking in the air' bit. I could watch it again and again too, as I love the animation and music. BUT I don't really want to watch a video about a snowman all year round, so wondered if you had any other suggestions along similar lines?

My daughter was entranced by West Side Story - the score is fantastic.

Jodee, I'll second Fantasia. Fantasia 2000 is the one that came out a couple of years ago and is even better than the original, IMO.

My kids love the Disney Sing-a-long videos, they're a bit cheesy (IMO) but it keeps them entertained for a while.

Jodee, Baby Mozarts etc are suitable up to about age 3.

My boys love all the Fun Song Factory videos, lots of song and dance.

My son who was 2 at Christmas, has really got into the Snowman too. Its lovely (the first few times! .....)

I would also recommend "The Wiggles" videos. They are an Aussie singing group who do original children's songs with actions. I have yet to meet a child who doesn't like them and you can order the vids throguh Amazon.

Tweenies, Wiggles are firm favourites. And mine love the Mickey Mouse in Fantasia.

Mickey Mouse's Greatest Hits has a charming short of Mickey conducting an orchestra all the way through a hurricane. They play The William Tell Overture and before the storm starts are persistently interrupted by a piccolo-wielding Donald Duck. Real vintage Disney and much-loved by our little son. The Fantasia excerpt is also on this tape for those who find the whole film (cavorting pixies etc) a bit much.

I know you've probably already bought your video by now, but if not...

Baby Mozart - classical music/toys/puppets etc
Baby Bach - as above
Baby Shakespeare - poems/songs/toys/puppets etc
Baby Einstein - different langauge/songs/etc

My 18 month old has watched them since he was a small baby and absolutely LOVES them. He laughes out loud at them and dances and chats to the puppets etc - fantastic!!!! His friends of between a similiar age and up to 6 months older also enjoy watching them when they come round.

One of the BEST investments we have made to date!

Thanks Noisy, I hadn't got round to actually buying any yet - I went to the library and got out a Wiggles video. After staring open-mouthed at Captain Feathersword et al for a while, they kinda grew on me! But good to hear your recommendations, when I get a chance I will definitely check those out.

As an update (if anyone's interested!!) ds now has 3 favourite videos that are hardly ever out of the machine:
Fun Song Factory (the live stage version);
Wow! That's What I call Nursery Rhymes (bought purely because Dave Benson Phillips was in it, but I never knew nursery rhymes could be sung to a rap music stylee!);
The Very Hungry Caterpillar (the score is brilliant and just as good, if not better, than the lovely books).
All highly recommended by my 2 year old!

toy story,toy story and yet again toy story my dd knows it inside and out she keeps saying "woody's sad" "were buzz's arm gone"," girl will fix it". Tweenie tape is completly knackered and harry potter is closely following behind toy story.

Barney gets the vote from my son 22 months everytime. Suitable from 1-6, singing, dance,
fun and educational too! Just in case anyone didn't know he is a resident at Alton Towers, he has his own show 3 times a day (I know because we live very close!)

Jodee I'm in Oz & the Wiggles are very popular, but if you ever get a chance (like through Amazon etc), check out a Hi-5 video. Hi-5 are absolutely HUGE over here.... kids adore them. They're a singing group of 5 young people in their twenties, very lively and they do a half-hour tv show including songs and educational segments. My son is now 22 months but has loved watching them since he was only little. My friend's daughter is 6 and still loves them, so I think the videos will keep them entertained for a long time. Don't know if you'll be able to find one anywhere, but just thought I'd let you know.

Yes Hi-5 is a hit in our house too - even I sing along! Really good songs and they all have very good voices.

My ds' latest fave is Elmo in Grouchland. He also likes Shrek but I have to fast-forward the dragon part! Apart from that Tweenies, Barney and Maisy. Oh and another good aussie one is the Hooley Dooleys (who I like better than the Wiggles actually! )

The singing kettle is also very good

My children really enjoyed the Wee Sing videos. They have different topics for their tapes and are very musical. I really liked the Oldmacdonald one and the ride the rollercoaster one. I think that is the name of it. Its all taped at an amusement park with kids.
