American sites do you visit them?

I occasionally visit parenthood web which is an american site and found it totally of the wall!
Has any one else found this?
I thanked god when I found mumsnet. Some sane mums at last!

Me too Callie, althought the one I visited was even more different because it was a vegetarian parenting website! I am not vegetarian and mean no offence to anyone who is ,( my two best friends are, and they are a lot nicer and saner than I am - they were appalled by this website) but those gals were NUTS! Talk about completely up their own derrieres.And so THICK! Also, funnily enough, very anti men.
They used to annoy me so much I felt compelled to keep looking at the site on most days,just to torture myself, but since I discovered mumsnet I have broken that addiction, and formed a new one!

The strange thing is these women on parenthood web are not exactly nutters but totally holier than thou.
They all have cutsie pics of them and their kids which they put up with every post.
I remember a thread on surrendered wives and fully expected most of them too be against the idea. But to my amazment they were all for it and a lot were even practising the idea???
One women commented that it wasn't such a good idea for her and her partner of 13yrs and she totally got slammed for not being married.
She was even told that her opinion did not count for nothing as her man had not evev commited to her.
I was totally shocked and your right it is a real eye opener to how others live and think.
Honestly to hear them going on about their perfect marriages and god fearing ways it makes you wonder why the divorce rate is so high in the US.

What I really liked about mumsnet is how it is completely okay to be downright politically INcorrect! And to sound off about how our little blighters are driving us round the bend. I have not seen much of that talk on the US websites I have visited, just a lot of messages which are different ways of saying "I am a better parent than you".
The only problem with mumsnet is I feel as if I would love to recommend it to certain friends, but I can't as I would be so easy to identify and I would not like them to read some of the things I post!

Well, as an Australian, I read Mumsnet for some of the same reasons you look at the American sites. I want to see how others thinks about things, and how they cope with situations I find myself in. I definitely believe Australians are much closer in their ideas (and sense of humour) to the British than to the Americans but there are still plenty of glaring differences and the more I read Mumsnet, the more of these I find. I stress to add this is a good thing....it makes for some interesting (and often thought-provoking)reading!!!

Callie, I know what you mean. There was an eye-popping thread on here a while back about a website (US in origin) devoted to women who found childbirth a sexual, orgasmic experience. I think it's fair to say that there were no mumsnet takers for this point of view...
I quite like ParentSoup, though - has some nice ideas for activities with little ones which are refreshing just because they come from a different culture.
Chelle, well, you give us Steve Biddulph and Christopher Green. I am surprised we can compete!
