When I went to pick up DD1 and DS from school yesterday early (they had an appointment) I saw 4 police officers and a little boy walking back into the school. The nursery teacher came running up and said he was with them. Now I heard what was said, and the boy was quite a distance from the school, according to the police officers. I went to speak to the head today and according to him, the little boy was only missing for 5 minutes, and as soon as the school realised, people were searching for him. I'm not so sure myself, when I arrived both the teacher and the TA were playing in the garden (why wasn't one of them searching??) The secturaty (sp??) asked ME why the police were there, and I overheard the secturaty say that the head should be informed.. and the teacher seemed really shocked when they saw the boy with the police. I don't think they realised he was missing, Now I have spoken to the Head and asked what they are doing to safeguard that it won't happen again, and he said that all the gates springs are being replaced, and he has asked county to put in high fencing. Whether that happens in another matter. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw this little one from my dd2's class with the police.

I'd be worried too. Sounds a bit fishy, doesn't it? From what you have said perhaps they didn't know he had gone Shock How old are they?

SparklyGothKat · 09/05/2006 11:09

I think its a bit fishy myself.. they are 4.

Maybe put your suspicions to the head? IE. "You say everyone was looking, but ...". See if he/she cracks! Wink Hope you get to the bottom of things and feel a bit better. How far away was the boy? Would the police confirm if they had been alerted by school or someone who found the boy?

SparklyGothKat · 09/05/2006 11:18

apparently a member of the public flag down the police.

He was about 10 minutes walk away.

That's terrible! Makes me not want to send my ds to nursery in Sept. He will be 4 in Oct. How worrying Sad

That's my biggest fear! DD1 was just offered a place yesterday. The school borders a park and is in a fab neighbourhood, BUT there is a busy road about 20m away

Snap expat, ours is next to a HUGE park and a by-pass Sad and [panicky emoticon]

So I heard the sect. talking to the TA today, and she said that she said a heart attack when the police walked in with the child, so if they knew he was missing why would she have had a heart attack...

she said that she had...

If he was found a 10 min walk away he had obviously been missing for more than 5 mins! Plus I doubt the police could have got there that quickly...

I think they are covering it all up tbh.. the head's face, when I said that I was at the school when the child was brought back, was a picture.
