Whitby holiday

hi my dp and i are going to whitby end of april and stayin in a cottage with our ds who will be 8 months old. Can anyone recommend any nice places to visit near there/ pubs/cafes/restaurants/things for the lo like animal parks etc. Thank you

The abbey is worth a stroll round. Nice walks in Dalby forest. There is a village (forget its name) that has a cultural history museum in with houses from lots of different periods - really interesting. Castle Howard. Can't remember what else we did when we were there - oh yes, a boat trip from Whitby.
