DD usually dressed in trousers and top .. nice but not special because I think the purpose of clothes is to have fun .. and if you have fun you can get dirty and they wash out anyway ... right?

so anyhoo ... DD was given some beautiful new clothes for her 2nd birthday yesterday .. and is currently in the garden in a beautiful white broderie anglaise top and cotton skirt ensemble (she looks so.o.o.o. cute)

BUT .. she has a cranberry juice ice lolly and its dripping all over her beautiful clothes and my hackles are rising

eeeeeekkkkkkk .. this is why I don't dress my daughter up

All you can do is enjoy how lovely she looks today! Totally agree with you re the purpose of clothes btw.

Hang her upside down from the washing line by her ankles until she's finished the ice lolly. She won't mind. Wink

Take a photo the first time they wear it and resign yourself to the fact that they'll never look the same again

Twiglett · 05/05/2006 16:06

Blush .. I've just stripped her down to her nappy and hand-washed the ensemble

THIS is why I don't do beautiful clothes

Did the stains come out then? I totally understand, but I tried never to let me DD know that I was upset about "stains"--didn't want to stiffle her creativity!!

Grin poor child! I do this with dd3 too - my first and only girly baby and I just have not got the hang of dressing them nice and then keeping them nice Grin Mind you the clothes all wash out well so that isn't a problem, just it is not so much fun having them look beautiful when they look likwe they have been fishing for worms in the local rubbish tip by 11am Grin

My DD is the same, she had a gogeous white and beige shirt on yesterday with a whilte vest and gold sandals, she looked lovely until about 10 minutes later when she had a ginger bread man and the chocolate legs (WTF thought of that bright idea ?) melted everywhere, then the mushed up ginger bread man followed lastly by blue smarty juice from his eyes Angry

I know exactly what you mean, no matter how neat, clean and tidy my DD is on a morning, guaranteed by the afternoon she will look like a street urchin!

Naked apart from a nappy is best.

ANd as my DS strips off asap after I've dressed him in the morning I guess he thinks that too. 3rd time around I don't do best clothes.

so know that feeling and dd is quite a clean child (in comparison to dss.....she dont take after me thats for sure). Why tho do they always end up doing the really dirty activities like painting when you have just put them in something nice whereas when they are in a scruffy tshirt they want to do something like drawing with a pencil Grin. Or is that jsut my dd?
