I'm planning a new kitchen and I'd really like to hear what people love about their kitchens - or hate! Flooring, what to put where, gizmos and gadgets... any suggestions welcome.

actually, I do like having a separate utility room with the washing machine and drier in it.

I love my massive corner fridge - about this size of a phone box so stores everything. Also dalsouple rubber floor - warm and you can custom design colour/flecks etc - everyone said i'ld let the kids do ours but we really like it. Also instead of corner cupboards we have drawers built - brilliant as nothing gets lost.

Love my butler's sink, the twirly thing in the cupboard for keeping saucepans in, the fact that it's big enough to fit a table in...
Not so fond of -
fan oven because i still don't really know how to work it (inherited it with house)

granite can scratch, go for quartz.

granite is a drag but still loved it - love big fridge and icemaker but it fingerprints easily...want a pink kenwood chef!

my kitchen here, err the colour on the wall.

my old kitchen was design by my FIL. the units were a lower height to average to accomadate my shortness, the wall units were also slightly lower. it was a tiny tiny kitchen but so well designed. the cooker was place in one of those high cupboard thingys so no bending down to get food out and no little fingers got too close.

hate my current kitchen.. it's a corridor lined with cupboards. Like my nice big windows, that's it

mancmum · 05/05/2006 21:47

I love my kitchen as we extended it to have room for big table which kids can sit at whilst i cook == there is a breakfast bar type area between eating and cooking area that provides nice divide and there are double doors onto decking onto garden... makes room feel airy and brings outdoors in... wish it was big enough for a sofa as well... that would make it perfect..
