Oh I so wish the Grundy boys would kill each other sooner rather than later

It's just annoying me so much.

And Tom Archer and his bloody sausages and Brenda - FFS, isn't it time for a siege and a wipe out of characters in the Archers? I vote that Alistair should run amok in a gambling frenzy and kill Matt then everyone else except Lilian.

Kalex, kate has always been a spoiled brat.

She was never married to Roy Tucker but did have a kid with him (she gave birth in a tipi in a festival LOL) was very 'alternative' but in the 'I hate and despise your money grabbing ways father, now give me some money so I can go an discover myself.' sorta way!"

denied Roy his rights as a father up to the point where she wanted to nob off to Africa to 'discover' herself. So she left her kid and buggered off.

Now is married and has another child.

PandaG · 04/05/2006 21:06

Thanks MB for that info - as I am a recent convert to MN, and waste far too much time here, I don't think I dare investigate it! Maybe we could run an Archers thread alongside a camping one? Wink
(tent is now dry after sriking in the rain on Monday, due to glorious weather today!)

Hallgerda · 04/05/2006 21:12

mb, wasn't there a suggestion a while back that all might not be going well between Kate and Lucas? I'm not too keen on Kate either, but I thought Phoebe's naming ceremony was one of Ambridge's classic comedy moments.

Do you think Emma and Ed might be heading for a split? Neil won't have Ed in his shiny new house, and Emma won't let George stay in the caravan, so the relationship looks doomed.

PandaG, this week's been a good one - do use Listen Again.

Shula's been my Ambridge pet hate for years (for being an emotional windbag) but I agree she's getting a raw deal at the moment. I can't really see what anyone might have against Ruth though (apart from constant repetition of "Ohhhh Nooo"). I agree with Caligula that Matt needs bumping off, but I think the horse has more right to do the deed than Alistair.

Blandmum · 04/05/2006 21:15

I was responsible for naming a character on TA once. When I used to post on UMRA it was known that script writers used to lurk and nick the odd idea. We were musing about what loopy nale Kate would choose for her sprog and I sugested MoonFLower. When she gave birth (in the TIPI in Glastonbury!) Moonflower was in attandance! But as Kate's friend not the baby!

Fame at last. Grin

PandaG · 04/05/2006 21:33

MB - great claim to fame, I remember ROFL at the time at the name (not a suck up, 'tis true, well I sniggered out loud anyway Smile)

Thanks Hallgerda, I will.

suejonez · 05/05/2006 00:13

Wasn't it Shula who tried to cause trouble between Alan and Usha with the bishop? Alistair is gods way of punishing her...

Caligula · 05/05/2006 12:04

I want Roy and Kate to get back together and put that smug Hayley's nose out of joint.

Can't bear her.

In fact, I don't think there's one character on the Archers who is actually likeable, apart from Lilian.

I used to like Elizabeth when she was the Ambridge bitch, but they've neutred her and now she's just unspeakably dull.

joelalie · 05/05/2006 12:53

I don't think you're supposed to actually like them are you? Just watch as unfeasibly ridiculous/terrible things happen to them....and laugh ..or rage.

I've really enjoyed hating Emma recently.....lets out all that pent up anger and stress. Almost as good as yoga...

Not sure I actually even like Lillian just want to be her in a decade or so...

throckenholt · 05/05/2006 13:09

Have Roy and Hayley had a baby ? Shock

I know I have become a bit bored with the Emma/Grundys story and the sausage king - so only listen now and again but not sure how I missed that one !

Caligula · 05/05/2006 13:13

No no, she's talking about Phoebe, Kate's baby.

Hayley's just such a smug, self-righteous piece.

Yes they're a collection of gloriously dislikeable characters.

Peggy and Susan and Shula are my favourite hate figures.

I'm beginning to like Kenton.

Ruth has always irritated me, I was furious when she got together with David

Sorry, realised that's a boring list of random thoughts. Blush

ah - Kate is married with another child - yes vaguely remember that. Was just amazed I had managed to miss Hayley having a baby.

joelalie · 05/05/2006 13:21

Nooo...it's perfect. Having listened to the Archers for rather more years than I wish to say....involuntarily as a child and by choice as an adult, I find that the story lines tend to blend into a weird kind of stream of consciousness thing .... Grin

joelalie · 05/05/2006 13:23

"Was just amazed I had managed to miss Hayley having a baby."

What?????? I must have missed that too.....how???

Must have a litte sit down....oh I am already....

Blandmum · 05/05/2006 13:26

Hayley is Jasper Carrot's dd.

When she was off TA a while ago it was because her mother gave her a kidney transplant.

I'm ashamed that I know this much about the cast and characters.

I aslo have a script signed by David. He sold them to raise money for the NSPCC

Greensleeves · 05/05/2006 13:27

Lucy Davis (Dawn from The Office) is Jasper Carrott's dd too :)

Caligula · 05/05/2006 13:28

Which one was Dawn?

OP posts:
JanH · 05/05/2006 13:28

The one who got off with Tim eventually

Greensleeves · 05/05/2006 13:28

The blonde receptionist who wanted to be an illustrator

JanH · 05/05/2006 13:29

Hayley isn't Lucy Davis any more btw.

Caligula · 05/05/2006 13:31

I liked the first Hayley. I don't like this one

OP posts:
JanH · 05/05/2006 13:35

I don't either, C - she has the accent (pretty much) but not the personality - which is mad considering everything they say is scripted! (but maybe the actors contribute to what's said and done?)

Hallgerda · 05/05/2006 13:40

Interesting that they found a new actress for Hayley instead of just killing her off. I've noticed a few personality changes over the years - Elizabeth's already been mentioned, and I'm sure Peggy changed from tediously sweet old lady to complete cow overnight.

JanH · 05/05/2006 13:45

Clarrie's been 3 actresses and Lilian 2.
