DDs bum looks bruised!!!

DD is 4.5mths and wears cloth nappies. She has a touch of nappy rash so am letting her roll around naked at the min. Her bum looks all purple and bruised comapered to the rest of her body. I have never noticed it before but just wondered if it is normal?

It could just be a little chilly. Ds insists on wearing shorts to school atm, and sometimes his legs look totally mottled with pink and purple patches separated by pale creamy while lines (or is it creamy patches and pink and purple lines? Can't remember! ) If she seems comfy and happy, I doubt there's anything to worry about.

I often had my two's bums out even in winter, if it was a sunny day and they were wrapped up warm elsewhere on their bodies.

yes, babies have notoriously bad circluation (which improves later). prob this.

Could it be mongolian blue spots? or whatever they are called?

Never noticed it before or dont remember and dont recall DS being like that but DDs bum is a lot ermmm flabbier..pmsl

Sounds like a Mongolian blue spot to me too. My dd has one on her bum and lower back. Very common in mixed race children but not unheard of on white children too. Looks exactly like a bruise but they usually fade or disappear as they get older. I love my babies blue bum - very cute!

I doubt it's a Mongolian Blue spot. Nemo would have noticed one of those by now. Besides, her dd would have to have masses of them to make her bum look all bruised!

mongolian blue spot..not heard of it. DD is the birth mark queen as she has 5 and is possible as my mum is mixed race. Think it is probably just cirulation though as it is her whole bum that looks purply blue not just bits.

my daughter is mixed race and had a purple bum for about a year , The Childminder reported me to Social Services and my health visitor had to come round and explain to her about Mongolian Blue Spots , as your mother is mixed race I would say this is possible as these things can skip generations.
